This year at the Winter NAMM show, I got to meet Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel. He can play faster than I think! He was Very interested in VPT and triggering drum software.
Hopefully, you'll be seeing more of Pete on an RET Percussion electronic drum set in the future!
Thanks for watching... and SUBSCRIBE if you haven't already!!!

Pete is an incredibly wonderful person.. i had the pleasure and opportunity to tour w morbid angel back in 98 and it was one of the best and amazing times of my life.. we became great friends and I'll never forget it.. Pete let me play his kit on the last day of the tour because we were late getting to the venue because of transportation issues and didn't have time to set up and he was kind enough to let me use his drum kit and it was a dream come true man.. anyway, he never has lost his touch.. alot of ppl talk shit about him finding Jesus and having the Lord in his life and I say fuck everyone.. let the man be.. he is an incredible person and a phenomenal drummer.. and when morbid angel lost him it was the worst thing that could've happened to them.. his style of playing made that band imo.. and when u can sit behind him night after night and watch him play a 90 minute set and straight tear it up then tell me he's lost his touch.. Pete sandevol is a beast.. always was, always will be..

bernabas73 hehehelol You have never seen this guy(Pete Sandoval)on live show with Morbid Angel? He is insane fast and energetic, in fact Morbid Angel songs are faster speed in drums than the slayer ones because most of drums of Morbid Angel are based on extreme fast blast beat and insane speed double bass drums, not just basic tuka, tuka, tuka as Slayer's drums.

Serillian666: triggers CAN do what you're talking about, but great drummers use it to get a "equalized" sound (for instanc, fast double base drumming can be 99% perfect so the trigger corrects the 1% remaning, know what I mean ?). Also, it helps getting the sounds you want for the parts you trigger like bass drums or toms...

Jurmu LOL, no, I too meant no offence, and I also was joking around. My sarcasm is very bland and I was kind taken aback by your comment to the point of really DRY sarcasm! Anyhow, I don't personally like triggers either, but I guess they serve their purpose - just not in this video! No foul...
@johnlynchjnr

I drum but cannot afford a triggered setup for my bass drum but when I get a few quid I'll get hooked up. I appreciate that audiences enjoy the brutality of untriggered drums but it is not practical. It is not easy to tune two bass drums to be identical. Triggers enable ankle bass drumming techniques that save energy where an acoustic kit doesn't. These techniques can enable drummers to reach higher bpm's and / or do longer spells of double bass. Triggers have been and are the way forward for metal drumming. Accept facts.

I can say that although I'm not into this type of playing or this style of music, I can certainly appreciate the level of accuracy Pete displays here (and in all of his playing). It's your opinion, though. And I can appreciate that. Also know that there are SO many people that love this style... so please refrain from alienating most of the people watching this video! -mikey

I love when people post comments like this! I love it because it really gives me insight on how many people have never used a system like this. It's so advanced right now that it scares people from trying it. Sad, really. Oh well, I guess I'll just enjoy my 1,000's of drums by myself :-) -mikey
