As a born New Yorker I have been proud to use the NYXL. Not only because they are made in New York, but because they are just that damn good.

I play like all morning without even taking breakfast and I'm very aggressive with the strings, I play with a lot of attack. I've never broken one and I love the tone. Very good stuff.

I love these strings. I started using the NYXLs recently. Started using XLs in the 80s. Terrific strings. I haven't broken a string in thirty years, and that was just regular XLs. The NYXLs are even stronger.

My second set, used 9/42 on my PRS Custom 24, and this guitar has come alive. My home built guitar i just put on 10/46 . The SRV voiced Texas special pickups went into rocket mode! Both guitars are true since the change, stay in tune forever. And never need to mess around wasting time between sets. The NYXL are the best single addition I have yet to add to any guitar. Keep your guitar happy and make sure you keep in a steady room temp low humidity place. Woods expand and contract, no matter what string set you use the law of temp will mess with your head. Buying Nyxl is good insurance. Any good guitar engineer will tell you the same thing.

Coming from regular XL I could not believe my ears. The difference in tone is huge. I love them.

They feel good and stay in tune, I installed them without any stretching and they were in tune the next day. However they're very neutral sounding. I like how Elixir strings all have their own feel and character if you want a natural bright sound go for the Nanowebs, crisp percussive sound with a slight coated feel go for the Optiwebs, if you like the slick coated feel and a slightly warmer sound go for the Polywebs. I feel for more than twice the price of normal strings you should get noticable tone improvement and playability. If I feel like spending more I buy Elixirs and match the strings to the sound and feel. I prefer the Polywebs most of the time. If I want a good feeling neutral string with a little more zing, I save my money and buy GHS Boomers 10-46. They are great strings for the money, $4.95 you cant go wrong.

I got this and I'm really impressed by them. Marketing aside... They definitely did last the longest of all the strings I had. They stayed nice for almost 4 months... Probably died around 3 months but damn they sounded good and felt phenomenal. I'll be sticking with them for sure

My sensitive skin and hands never liked the feel of coated strings and NYXL are the most durrable and best sounding strings I have tried for what I use them for. I can confirm they stay in tune on lots of guitars for a long while once they are streached enough (not enough to brake them)/"set" on a guitar more. My hollow body guitars I use flatwound chromes on though. D'addario has been my go to brand for all my strings for years now. If you clean a fretboard well every string change and then wash hands lots of playing sessions strings can last longer. I love that some of these strings I got have came with a sticker too.

is there a new set up required for a floating tremolo using same gauge as the XL's due to the tension difference?

I have used the NYXL 9-42 strings for 3 years but I recently had the high E string come unwound at the ball end on 2 different sets. Not happy about that at all. 🤬
@lornedahlin

I’ve had the high e string come unwound as i streched them on literally like a dozen packs of regular xl’s... been using them since the early 90’s.. but never again. The quality ain’t the same anymore.

WidePeepo7 Read the thread. It’s shitty and a bad design when a string unwinds on the ball end. It should be more secured from the manufacturing aspect. It’s a design flaw. Never had one unwind with EB Paradigm strings.

NYXLs are my favorite strings, but you need to stretch them after you install them or you will be playing flat. D'Addario should stop lying about this.
@williewiss6944

Regardless of brand, I always stretch my strings during install. You'll never have to hassle with it anytime afterwards. I did start using a double locking Floyd in 1998 though when I was 12. Old habits...

I just bought the NYXL 9-46, which is the same gauge as the Ernie Balls I had. I like the tone better, but not the feel of them, they seem a bit flubby. I'm gonna try the 10-52's.

Too right Who cares if it has 'nickel-plated steel wrap wire'? What does that mean for my guitar and my music? We barely even know if this guy even plays guitar. All I know is he's really interested in carbon. You really want to make this product look good? Set up a demo stand so we can see how it sounds. Can't do that? Fine, we get that. Then just say so and tell us we have to try for ourselves to hear how good they sound. Don't tell us it's because 'They're made in New York (duh!)' - Even the promoter laughs at you when you say that. You really think NY is the best city in the world, just because? Jesus Christ

@@kurtkobain7445 well, not everyone is a moron and some people like hearing technical details about these products. The d'addario guy clearly explains the technical differences and what players should feel and hear with the Nyxl strings. I don't understand all the negativity here.
