NANA was my first josei anime. It taught me so much about myself as a teen. I learned what paths I wanted to avoid. What kind of friends to keep close. And to face your mistakes head on.

Nana was actually published in a shoujo magazine, making it shoujo, according to TV Tropes. It feels like a josei because it's much more realistic and darker than most other shoujo anime, but that doesn't necessarily make it a josei. While shoujo manga usually share tropes and clichés often associated with shoujo manga, the lack of these tropes and clichés don't make Nana any less of a shoujo.

It's been YEARS since I've watched NaNa and I still can't forget it. It was about the second anime I ever completely watched. I can still remember how frustratingly sad it was. My heart aches whenever I think of the relationship between Nana and Hachiko and how they slowly began to drift apart. They're definitely on my list of characters that deserved better.

I love the imagery in this Op 0:47 Nana grabbing onto barbed wire, literally hurting herself willingly (her possessiveness with Hachi is what's causing her so much pain), with Hachi's room in the backdrop 0:59 Hachi *literally* turning her back on Nana's room, which is displayed with a web (Simultaneously representing how it's been so long since she left, and the fact that meeting Nana has brought her into a web of relationships she can't escape)

I read in one of her interviews that, when she was asked to write the song, she felt she could connect completely with Reira so the lyrics and emotion were real and raw, which proves that Olivia truly is the real life Reira!!! :D

+Top5Anime like the cell phones you see that they see eachother represented on their phones like punk rock nana can see the other nanas innocence, while the sweet nana can see the other nana becoming a big rock star, then of course you have the barbed wire keeping punk nana away from seeing sweet nana because she's always in her room with takumi and is keeping punk nana away from sweet nana, then you have the web and showing punk nanas room being abandoned since nana is now living with ren, plus at the end showing the table being alone since the friendship kinda broke up in a way

Me too. But it's meant to be a fact that Nana can't sing that well because of her smoking habit, whereas Reira is known to have a voice of an Angel- which is something Nana also envies.

The guitar progressions in the first verse and in the outro of this song remind me so much of the Hannah Montana game I used to play on my DS as a child. Sounds weird but stick with me. It’s so bittersweet because the game reminds me of being happy as a child but the progression itself is so melancholy and lonely. It’s so strange.
