ps. Nanba walking is typical old style Japanese swordsmanship(Samurai)'s combat movement style (and modern days combat gun shooter's movement style too).

Yes, that's basically it, the old way of walking minimised twists and turns exerted on the body and so less energy was spent. The modern way of walking is the opposite, however.
Have you tried Nanba in any of the running event ? how was the result ? is nanba only in your head but have not yet been restored ? I would like to see a nanba runner. I watched the mention in Kobudo basketball footage that says nanba runner could run 150km per day in the past. Did you restored the forgotten nanba completely and tried it in running events ?

There has been discussion elsewhere that messengers and carriage bearers would run in this method, war horses were also trained to trot in a similar way in order to improve accuracy for mounted archers. As far as jogging and running, I would look at the "pose running method" for something similar.

Title: Nanba Walk, Kono Yoshinori. Yoshinori Kono, he say medieval Japanese walking style was different from it present. Surprisingly, it was a "Nanba Walk"(like a Groucho Marx's walking style :-O).

#Carrera o caminata Namba segun el movimiento de la pierna, también va el brazo de cada lado igualando el movimiento, tambien es conocido como Namba Bashir
can namba aruki be used for running?, ive only seen it as an exaple of walking

Variations of it seem to have been used classically for messengers and carriage bearers, more recently, there is the "pose running method" which can be found here on KZfaq. It's not quite the same method, but works within the model of nanba aruki.
This is interesting, but is it likely that this would have been the way of walking looking at all the other cultures on the planet? Would it have been learned ? I find it hard that it would have been a natural phenomena local to the Japanese islands that at some point people decided to abandon..
