Thanks for sharing! Interesting how in this practice she released her leg for the last half of the spiral. I wonder why they decided not to do that in the performance? This video shows how wonderful her positions could be!

Oh my gosh - this video (and quality of it) remind me of my skating days when my dad had this huge tape recorder and would "tape" my competitions. LOL. This brought back a lot of fond memories, especially since he's no longer with us. Now I have a figure skater and I get to "tape" everything for her too! - Katie (Mom of the Bush Sisters, lol)

The most famous Silver medalist in American history. Nancy was a great skater, but I’m really impressed at how far the ladies have come. Some of the junior skaters are getting high senior scores. I hope artistic skating will always score higher than a skater skating from end to end just to set up jumps. It’s a “that was mesmerizing “ sport not a “did you see how high she jumped” sport. Men’s figure skating is crazy athletic & the jumps are unbelievable, but just like the ballet, know one goes to see the guy prima ballerina. The ladies should stay more performance & artistic than just an athletic super freak show. Just my opinion & I’m only a fan that knows just enough about figure skating to be dangerous 😉. Then again, it’s fans like me who can grow the sport commercially. Just thinking out loud. Great rare video Dave. Bravo!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏

So we are just gonna pretend Michelle Kwan got the gold eh?

Danny didn’t say whether he meant “Olympic” silver medalist, or World silver medalist. Since Michelle as a 5 time world gold medalist, perhaps the statement is still accurate?

@@jamesyu5212 Not fair is it. To FS fans that maybe true, but Nancy had a movie about her experience, unfortunately Tanya Harding is the most famous skater but not for winning anything. No disrespect to Michelle Kwan, probably the most dominant U.S. figure skater, she has the most American titles!!!! Her skating is really beautiful. Watched her live & she stole the show!!!✌🏻

I enjoyed Nancy's skating in this video. It took the time to express the movements. Now, everything is so rushed and it detracts from the enjoyment of the skating.

Nancy had some really nice lines. The music choice was stellar, too. However, the step sequence was always a no-go for me. It made Nancy look stiff, like she has no rhythm (perhaps she didn’t 🤣🤣) but she never really settled into that part. Aside from that, she certainly had her own style and she certainly had good jumping technique, yet wasn’t very consistent. Not sure what that says about the Gus Lucci school of skating technique. Either it was the technique, or she wasn’t trained well-enough to pull off stellar winning performances under intense pressure. But Kerrigan was one of the first crop of ladies doing triple lutzes (Yamaguchi, Harding, and then Kwan, Lipinski, and then the rest.)

Kerrigan's performance was ok when she took her time with the slow music and kept her body line simple and straightforward; However, whenever the music tempo picked up and she attempted to match it then her performance often veered into slightly cringe territory. The first 3/4 of her LiliHammer LP was nice but then she did this bunny hop thingy on two feet at the end. It was a WTH moment, especially when she was sheathed in that elegant and gorgeous Vera Wang's gold dress.

Couldn't agree more. I remember as a young child that figure skated I liked kerrigan, but now looking back something is missing for me. My standards are high though and I see athletes like Kamila Valieva as the embodiment of artistry. I know I should not compare it but it's hard not to. You hit the nail on the head though, in Russia with ballet and also figure skating they talk about wooden arms (stiffness being a huge flaw). Tremendous emphasis is placed on a beautiful upper body, fluidity, and ease of movement. This is something that Americans skaters and ballerinas need to work harder on

The jumps are really important to figure skating. Otherwise it would be Ice Dance. There are already competitions for artistry in skating. I love watching quads, I know its dangerous and risky but it's such an amazing feat. Long live figure skating and those that can't jump should go learn to ice dance. 4:36

Best Figure Skaters in the World are : Male Vlad Dikidschi (incl quad Axel) , Female Magarita Basaljuk. one class better then the rest. In Figure Skating : There is Russia - and the rest of the World. And I dont care about doping , because there is NO ATHLET in Sport without doping. Look at the american swimmers, they look like robots or horses, with this anbol face like michael Phelps! I think you ve improved a bit in your bad opinion against Russia. But please take into account that in Europe people prefere Russia to USA or like them both. (we just think of Victoria Nuland(Maidan), Hunter Biden and all terrible wars and foreign politics of your country.
