Interesting song for a start. Look, long story short - Nanowar of Steel are a heavy/power metal band from Italy that are basically Weird Al Yankovic of the genre. Their band name itself is a pun, combining a mockery of the names of the bands Manowar and Rhapsody of fire. Their style is basically high quality heavy metal with goofy lyrics that poke fun of the overly seriousness with which many many bands are perceived to present themselves with. While adding a throwing random lyrical and musical pop culture references all over the place. The thing is that these fellas know what they’re doing and they take things quite seriously, actually. While the lyrics are parodying every imaginable thing, their music is a 100% tribute to the style. “Disco metal” is the little brother of another successful song they had 5 years ago, called “Norwegian Reggaeton “ and it was brilliant. If you’re familiar with the Norwegian black metal genre, the satanic imagery, and the general aesthetics of it, you’ll have a good time with this one. I can recommend every official video they’ve put for the past 5 years. There’s plenty of material to think about As Nanowar state about themselves: “We’re the only metal band that doesn’t play only metal”. As usual in the Nanowar's songs there a lot of quotes,puns and jokes here too...here are some...first of all,some of the Nanowar players are dressed as The Vampire,The Mummy and the Werewolf etc. (at 01:23 of the official video you can see him owling...),well these are quotes of the italian horror metal band Death SS (no nazi...it means In Death Of Steve Sylvester,their singer and leader) whose musicians go on stage dressed like that since 1977; Sign of the strobelight be our guide is a clear quote of the Manowar song Sign Of The Hammer (be my guide) and Cult of The Damned is another Manowar quote of the song Guyana (the cult of the damned) , a song about the mass suicide committed in 1978 at Jonestown wit 909 casualties...both songs were released in 1984. Disco Inferno is a famous disco song released in 1977, Reek of Putrefaction (1988) is an album by Carcass and it's considered a milestone in the death metal/grindcore genre,This Is The Ritual of The Nigth is a quote of Corona's song The Rhythm Of The Night (1995) while Follow The Reaper is an album released in 2000 by the finland metal band Children Of Bodom...but of course there is more!!!

While obviously genius, there have been other "Disco Metal" songs before, although usually with less comedic approach but more actual covers. Check out Therion - Summernight City (Prog Metal ABBA cover) or Turisas - Rasputin (Folk Metal Boney M cover). Allthough they are more in the vein of the Amberian Dawn album you mentioned (alltough still a bit more disco-y). On the other hand if you want more of comedic disco/electric metal, check out Electric Callboys like... everything :D MC Thunder, MC Thunder Part 2, Hypa Hypa, (and also Saltatio Mortis - Hypa Hypa Folk Metal cover of it), Pump It, We got the Moves, Arrow of Love, Is anyone up, My Own Summer...
