Nanowar is an italian parody metal band, their songs and videos are plenty of jokes and puns, some of them are easter eggs as for example the movie Trading Places...you saw it in the background...well, here in Italy Trading Places is considered a traditional xmas movie and our tv air it EVERY Christmas Eve...the pun/joke is that in Italy the title of this movie is different from the original,we call it Una Poltrona Per Due (An armchair for two) and that's another joke about furniture...🤣

This band is a "metal parody" band. That means they do parodies on other metal bands and various metal music subculture idiosyncrasies (like fans - and even some bands - taking themselves way too seriously). Other great songs to check out would be Norwegian Reggaeton, Ironmonger, Call of Chtulu, La Polenta Taragnarock and Barbie MILF Princess Of The Twilight (or Uranus, if you feel adventurous:). The Valhalleluja lore goes like this: At first, the band sings from a standpoint of an "old-school viking" - praising their god for all the things the vikings of old revelled in (plunder, rape, chopping of heads...) They also sing [Val]Halleluja (Valhallan Glory) to Odin for showing his faithful sons the way to the places where they either lived in or would go to indulge in the aforementioned pillage\plunder stuff - Normandy, Brittania, Greenland, Scandinavia. Then the self-proclaimed modern day viking receives a revelation\pontification from Odin himself (preceded by "Shema Yggdrasil" - a pun on a very well known Hebrew prayer "Shema Yisrael, Adonai eloheinu, Adonai echad"). Odin reveals that he has changed his ways a lot and gives the modern-day adept his new holy writ - the IKEA catalogue - so that his adepts could start hailing him in a new, more appropriate way. They proceed to do exactly that - in the style of Blues Brothers (with a Nordic\IKEA twist - musicians` garb, tapestries with runes over IKEA livery etc) - and start worshipping Odin in a brand new way by reading out of his new holy book (they recite furniture piece names and descriptions from the IKEA catalogue). And then our hero is rudely drawn back to the world of mundane reality by his wife, who is urging him to get on with assembling an IKEA furniture piece they received as a Christmas gift (it`s a tradition of sorts in Italy, where the band is from, just like watching Trading Places on Christmas Eve).

I actually loved this! I've never heard this genre really. The metal isnt as hard as I thought it'd be and the gospel aspect, I'm in love!

My favourites are 'and then I noticed she was a Gargoyle' and 'Uranus'. Another band that mixes genres is Electric Callboy. Check out 'Hypa, Hypa' and 'Pump it' by them.

2 things are ABSOLUTELY traditional the christmas day in Italy. Trading Places on TV and a IKEA forniture to build.

This video is packed full of jokes, from the really obvious to the very subtle. My favorite is the holy book of IKEA, which is an instruction manual to build an IKEA product. In this case the name of the product is at the top of the book cover in Futhark runes. The first rune translates as D, the second as R, the third as E, the fourth as K, and the last as I, so DREKI. Dreki is Norse for dragon, and the term for the famous dragon-headed Viking longship (also known as a Drakkar) that is pictured below. So this is the instruction manual for how to assemble a Dreki longship. And the tools that you need according to the book? They're listed in picture form at the bottom. You'll need a standard screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a pencil, a round shield, a double-headed battle-axe, and a mug of mead or ale.

If\when you decide to check out their song Norwegian Reggaeton, please turn KZfaq subtitles on if you do not know Spanish or Norwegian (one of the band members speaks like 12 languages fluently, so they sometimes write multi-language texts - and their built-in subtitles are there as a karaoke aid, so these usually do not translate parts that are not in English).

for non italian speaking. "Falegn - amen" joke. Falegname is the italian word for carpenter , and they changed an hebrew prayer from "shema israel, Adonai elohenu , Adonai ehad" meaning more or less "listen israel, god is one , god is great" to "shema yggdrasill , Odinai elohenu , Odinai ehad" . I suggest to watchfrom Nanowar also Uranus, And the he noticed that she was a gargoyle, norwegian reggaeton and Polenta taragnarock

i know it wouldn't fit as well ni the music but it would've been fun if the repeated stuff was said 3 times instead of 4 as 3 is a holy number in germanic paganism
