NaNoWriMo Update and HOW I motivate myself to write

I can't believe we're almost halfway through NaNoWriMo - this year I've probably done the least amount of writing by this point and yet I feel like I've made huge progress at the same time. I also chatted in this video about motivation and how I keep myself going when it comes to writing. I hope it's helpful - let me know how you're getting on!

Creativity being a big part of caring for yourself is something I only figured out this year and I'm so happy to hear someone else is so similar!

I'd never put 2+2 together until this year but now I'm a lot more conscious of how I'm feeling and what I need. So glad to hear you've had a similar experience this year too :)

Just wanted to say I'm loving your content - just discovered it! I echo your sentiments so much on the 30mins vs 1hr thing. In my previous NaNoWriMo attempts I've never gotten very far because even the idea of it seemed so mammoth. One thing I've changed this time is taking 25min breaks for sprints during my work day so keep the momentum going and writing at least 'something' everyday. Now I'm sitting at 37k and in good stead to actually complete 50k this year! Cannot believe it. Shorter, no pressure sessions are the way to go!

Wow huge congrats Clare on getting to 37k words - that's an incredible achievement! Did you end up hitting your 50k target? I didn't in the end which I'm sad about, but also super determined to make writing work in 2024!

@@CharlotteFurnessWriter I did! But in the end they're just words - getting any down is a success! It was not my best 50k of writing but it was really enjoyable - I didn't know NaNoWriMo could be so enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes this year.

I'm not a writer. In fact I don't think I have a single creative bone in my body (unless fantasizing about Henry Cavill counts 🤣) but I still enjoy these videos immensely.
