One thing that is often overlooked about Katatonia songs is the absolut stunning drumming! The drumfills in this track are so god damn hooking its awesome! I love this track so much.

@@marcp.1752 On the other hand you get a ton of variety with katatonia. They usually have 2-3 consecutive albums with the same style and then change it up, while keeping the awesome distinctive vocals. Makes everything fresh imo.

The production of this album reminds me Dead End Kings and The Fall of Hearts whereas City Burials kinda reminds me The Great Cold Distance, I love that they sound different each record, and this song is just flawless and the chorus is catchy as hell

Dead End Kings is the only Katatonia album I dislike with only Lethean being the only song I listen to. Personally I love Night Is the New Day, with Great Cold Distance just inches behind. Fall of Hearts was too soft for me aswell.

The mixing is definitely very interesting, made me wonder if the voice was Jonas' at all, but I loved it. The subtle complexity is very tasteful, the vocal melodies are catchy, the guitar solo is top-tier. Man. I love this band so much.

It's even more ironic if you read the lyrics: "I hear things aren't well / Since you sold me out" (artist pov), "Controlled by thunder / Ruled by dishonour" (employers? XD), and especially "Come feel / I am not real". I know it's over-interpretation here, but heck, hits hard. Also poor quality of AI images fits somehow desolate images lyrics describe (though still wouldn't advocate for such unethical, bad practice to visualise desolation).

Też kiedyś kochałem ten band, może nawet był moim no. 1. Potem, po NITND zaczęli tak smędzić, mruczeć i "nijaczyć", że choć z obowiązku próbowałem, to zawsze odpadałem. Mimo wszystko trzymam za nich zawsze kciuki. Może jeszcze kiedyś znów ruszę swoją starą dupę na ich koncert...

Katatonia frontman Jonas Renkse sums the feel of the track best this way; Energetic and dark, stern and disenchanted. Yes, that's exactly what emotions it will pull and the atmosphere it will convey as you listen. As for the meaning of the track, I believe it's about disillusionment that comes from being pulled so far away from one's expectations that nothing makes sense anymore. The world seems to have become almost fragmented - no telling who can be trusted, when it all reads as lies.

F*ck me!!! Awesome Video to an already awesome song. I have the feeling they are getting better and better... every album paints its own pictures... and I cannot hail Anders guitarwork enough. Jonas is God here, he has the most beautiful male voice on this planet. What genre though, they have been through so many it's hard to classify them right. I'm personally against genre classification anyways... So many artists fall under so many different genres it becomes kinda nonsensical to categorize them.

Love that they've reclaimed the goth/doomy atmosphere absent from the last two albums. Nice mix of old and new here. I prefer Atrium at the moment but I'm sure this will be a grower. 🖤

@Ænigma Xeno Yeah many will prefer this, but I often listen to Tonight's Decision/Last Fair Deal and Atrium harks right back to that era. This is certainly heavier and more proggy, which will appeal to most fans I imagine.

I became an instant Katatonia fan after the song Leaders from the album The Great Cold Distance came up on KZfaq suggestions, which I immediately loved because of the guitar solo at the beginning. After listening I went looking for more songs, when to my surprise I came across this video clip and found out that the band is going to release a new album, which makes me very happy, because I have been listening to them for over a week now. Also, I really love the artwork on the album covers, they convey very well the melancholic and dark feelings of the lyrics, I can't wait to hear the full album. Greetings from Portugal🤘🤘🤘💚💚💚❤❤❤
