I like the city of NAPIER, a very unique little town, because every year there is always an ART DECO festival. celebrated by residents all over the City of New Zealand. they were dressed in the era of the 1935s. and there is also an Indonesian restaurant 🇮🇩 which is very old until now.

Good job! Great video and City of Napier. Being a small city, looks plenty of chains, well designed parks and super clean streets. I hope people keep it up forever and I wish a brilliant future for New Zealand.

Thanks for the vid. I lived in Napier for 22 years. Now in Australia for the last 19 years. You don't realise what you left until you see it like this. :)

Nice vid! Use to love skating along the marine parade! The sound shell is still there! I saw cold chisel play there in 1981. Apart from the Earthquakes, is a lovely town to live. Wouldn't recommend swiming in the ocean right there. Strong undertow. Lovely & thanks for posting!

+David B Hey David! I'm considering moving to New Zealand for a year and doing some work like you mentioned. But I just am not sure if it's the right decision or not. Was it a good experience for you?

What I love about Napier is... it's Cleanliness. , When ever I see Litters(which rarely to be seen) on ground I pick it up with no hesitation. to be honest not always but most of the time. Keeping something clean is one of many civilized people's properties. Viva La Auckland.

Hi Tom, During the 1970's I managed to visit New Zealand on five separate occasions from my home in Australia. I mostly visited the North Island, but missed seeing Napier completely. So, thanks for sharing this video with your excellent narration. I am now seeing an area that I missed seeing when travelling to New Zealand. That guy does a great job playing the piano in Emerson Street. Incidentally, prior to 1931, Napier ran a tramway network. Unfortunately, it was all destroyed in the earthquake and was never rebuilt. All the very best. Robert.

The piano is owned by one of the local shops... they put it on the street each day so that any passer by who wants to sit down and play can. People that learn the piano but cannot afford one of their own will sometimes sit down and play it. But basically anyone who wants play a tune can :-)

My grandmother used to live on Breakwater Road (around the other side of Napier hill on the left hand side of the port) across the road from the beach. I would wander across the road and go swimming in the ocean most days in the summer... much more sheltered and safer on that side. :-) Nasty Ocean shelf and rips on the Marine Pde side though...

The old 'home' opposite the Tom Parker Fountain was the Gentleman's Club. I think it may still be - or at least it is a fairly exclusive club...

Those 'benches', the big white nut-looking things, are actually part of a geotech project to hold the ground in place . They are the nuts on the end of long bolts set into the bedrock to bind the ground together and stop it shearing, should there be another earthquake. Just kidding.

New Zealand is not safety country. A thief appeared in the mountain area in Hasting. Yesterday my friend and I’s backpack disappeared in the car... Please see the same backpack in the picture, please help the police! Thank you 🙏We drove the red car. Please pay attention to your health and property safety! Yesterday they fly to Christchurch airport 4pm from Napier
