There was a post-credits scene where Kip and LaFawnduh got married.

I grew up watching this and my friends and I would quote it constantly. "Your MOM goes to college..." This movie exists in a timeline of its own. It just fits in its own world. The director, Jared Hess (who also directed Nacho Libre), when he was a kid he moved to an area similar to the one in the movie. Somewhere in Idaho. Where it's a small town out in the middle of nowhere and everyone is behind the times, wearing fashion styles from like 20 years ago, and Macintosh computers are like new age technology to them. He and his wife wrote the script for this movie together when they met in college.

Exactly. I loved how awkward and behind everyone is in Napoleon’s town. The film is in 2004. Napoleon’s house is decorated with 70’s furniture. They use dial-up internet from the mid to late 90s and play 80’s music at the dance. It’s all over the place and hilarious. 😂

Jared moved to Preston, Idaho (about 25 miles from USU- Logan, UT and 10 from the Pepperidge Farms factory (1 of 8) in high-school mid 90s. The 90s style was all about retro and buying clothes from Deseret Industries was big in Utah and Idaho. The St. Anthony sand dunes, same town where many of the potatoes you eat are from. I love the 70s pictures, 80s music, and 90s technology all in one setting. People do sometimes joke, "Welcome to Idaho. Set your clocks back 10 years. Lol

saw it in theaters with a friend, we loved it. he yelled "get out of my house" during a quiet part during the credits and people laughed mom got it on dvd for me for christmas that year, 2004? and we watched it that morning. i don't think it gets better or worse on rewatches, i've liked it equally every time.

Funniest part of the movie in my opinion is when Pedro jumps the bike and there's a cobweb blowing in the wind off of Napoleon's hair.

I absolutely DIG your reaction here. I figured out there at the end that what makes this movie so special and uniquely touching is that victory comes in such seemingly small moments. But those small moments can determine the rest of our lives. Really great! Thank you very much for sharing!

Summer immediately lost my vote when she said she didn't want to eat "chimini-changas" for lunch. I WISH my school had chimichangas as an option. By the way why do none of the white people know how to pronounce spanish food names? Napoleon's grandma told him to make himself a "quesa-DILL-a" 😆 I think it's just part of living so far away from civilization, you just find your own pronunciations for words, and even if they're wrong, no one's going to correct them.

If you liked this, you might like Eagle Vs Shark by Taika Waititi. It has a similar tone- and follows the ‘weird awkward’ people. It’s for a little bit more depth behind it too.

You know when that farmer explains what Napoleon is supposed to do... In the original, he is incomprehensible and there was no captions. I never knew what he was saying. But they have diminished the film by removing his original performance.

YASS thanks for making my Monday, mate! xP And agreed, but in those small towns in the middle of farmland you gotta make your own fun and happiness one way or another... have a good one! And some things, Fun facts, Tina is played by Dolly Hess who is the nonhuman sibling of the Hess brothers including the director of this movie (Jared) And the hand signing in the song was only correct for the first line then they just... made it look pretty and vaguely accurate lol In his pocket is fine but not directly, like mate... put it in a sandwich bag at least And are we ignoring the poisoning or even murdering attempt by Napoleon on Tina?! Hah they’re herbivores so they don’t eat ham! Lol I think Summer was nice about it tbh she said no pretty much privately and didn’t make fun of him or anything especially publicly... Ithanks for realising eggs are bad! or not? but I love the curry vegan egg salad sandwiches (not exactly what you said, I know lol), soon finishing the one I made a bit ago! If you check the time and date on Napoleon’s watch, he ran for weeks/months lol That song at the dance is very dark if you listen to the lyrics “I like your sleeves, they’re real big” was a line that was actually said when the director or whoever was young to his date! Finally someone else that noticed the bleach in milk thing lol Ironically, Napoleon had more rhythm than Summer and the happy hands club lol AND the one who played Deb was/is a dancer and choreographer in real life The girl on a bike at the end ish, is Yuka Ruell, Aaron Ruell (Kip Dynamite)'s wife in real life Of course he won because of Napoleon’s dance heh

@@barbarapacker5722 yes, that was racist and in front of everyone too, but politics makes people awful… but I was referring to her invitation refusal, she could’ve made fun of him publicly or had Don kick his ass or something because he asked her, but she kept it private and put hearts too, so at least there’s that…
