PM Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar. “Nalanda is not just a name, it is an identity, a regard. Nalanda is the root, it is the mantra. Nalanda is the proclamation of the truth that knowledge cannot be destroyed even though books would burn in a fire,”, the PM exclaimed. He underlined that the establishment of the new Nalanda University would initiate the golden age of India.

*How was Nalanda University:* The center had eight separate compounds, 10 temples, meditation halls, classrooms, lakes and parks. It had a nine-storey library where monks meticulously copied books and documents so that individual scholars could have their own collections. It had dormitories for students, perhaps a first for an educational institution, housing 10,000 students in the university’s heyday and providing accommodations for 2,000 professors. Nalanda University attracted pupils and scholars from Korea, Japan, China, Tibet, Indonesia, Persia and Turkey.

*How was Nalanda Destroyed:* Nalanda was ransacked and destroyed by Turkish MoosIim invaders, also called MamIuks, under Bakhtiyar KhiIji in 1193 AD. The great library of Nalanda University was so vast that it is reported to have housed more than 9 million manuscripts. According to traditional Tibetan sources, the library at Nalanda University was spread over three large multi-storeyed buildings. One of these buildings had nine storeys that housed the most sacred manuscripts. The library burned for three months after the invaders set fire to the buildings. The Muslim invaders ransacked and destroyed the monasteries and drove the monks from the site.

But bhai iska university ka act to 2010 me hi pass ho gaya tha 🙂 Aur march 16 ko yeh reopen bhi ho gaya tha 🙂 Aur is nalanda university ko revive karne ka proposal abdul kalam sir ne diya tha 🙂, in 2006 . Unko credit nahi diya gaya 🙂

School of Astrology and Mathematics is must for it to cater to revive the culture of ancient mathematics in India. An Economics department dedicated to chankya's lineage is a must too. Even if science stream departments aren't opened, mathematics department will be wonderful for this institution.
