Narrow Gauge South April 2018 Part 1

Narrow Gauge South Exhibition organised by Wessex Narrow Gauge Modellers. This was my first visit to this show and I was pleasantly surprised at the range and standard of layouts on show. A very enjoyable few hours. Parts 2 & 3 will follow soon.
Layouts shown in Part 1 are:
00:51 Ilfracombe East - 009 (4mm scale on 9mm gauge) - Brian Key. Based on the Lynton & Barnstable railway.
02:49 Green Pond Mine - H0e/H0f (3mm scale on 9mm/6.5mm gauge) - Lyn & Jim Owers. A Fluorite mine in the Peak District.
03:44 Sarre - 0 Gauge (7mm/ft; 32mm Gauge) - East Kent 0 Gauge Group. Based on East Kent Railway built to serve the Kent coalfields.
05:34 Lower Exbury - 4mm/ft; 18.83mm gauge, P4 standard - Alison Barker. Terminus of the fictitious South Hampshire Light Railway.
06:56 Plaxtol Road - 0 Gauge (7mm scale on 32mm gauge) - Tim Tincknell. Typical Colonel Stephens light railway.
07:41 Bryn-y-Felyn - 009 (4mm scale on 9mm gauge) - Matthew Kean. Based on the look of the old Welsh Highland Railway.
09:43 Wickambreaux Road - 009 (4mm scale on 9mm gauge) - David Marshall. Depicts the station on the Canterbury Light Railway.
10:58 Ryedown Lane - 009 (4mm scale on 9mm gauge) - Patrick Collins. Rural narrow gauge railway in the 1930s.
13:06 Snowdon Nwngr - at 8mm/ft; 1/38 scale - Peter Booth. Portrays the 2 ft narrow gauge railway at Rhyd Ddu.
14:42 Sud Harz Eisenbahn - H0m (3.5mm scale on 10mm gauge) - Paul Steedman. Based on a metre gauge line in Germany.
19:04 Roestok - 009 (4mm scale on 9mm gauge) - Ian Turner. Depicts a 2 ft gauge branch line in the British Empire of Southern Africa.

I enjoy visiting model railway exhibitions and videoing the layouts. NG South was different to the usual exhibitions I visit but I couldn't get to it this year. I hope to visit it next year, though.

How is '0' scale Narrow Gauge??? Far too much non scale speed, abrupt stops, coupling by engine/ stock 'collision', hesitant movement indicates poor track laying, and/ or dirty track . . . this at Exhibition from specially invited layouts . . . suggests inexperienced modelers seriously need retrainiing! Snowdon Nwngr - Gauge information absent? Camera better at 'ground' level than from overflying plane!!

Thank you for your comments but I think that you are being unnecessarily critical. Although the layout exhibitors do their best, things can, and do, go wrong, and they cope as best they can, whilst still entertaining the public. And, yes, sometimes, inexperienced operators are used if more experienced operators are not available or to give them a break. Snowdon Nwngr is 8mm/ft, 1/38 scale. The 0 gauge layouts were 7mm/ft scale, 32mm gauge. I am not a professional photographer but I try to use various camera angles to capture the best shots that I can. For various reasons, (layout scenery, other onlookers) I can't always view from 'ground level'.
