Personal opinion, but I feel as if Nas, especially early Nas, is the greatest MC to ever touch the mic. I love BIG, Big L, Mobb Deep, Scarface, Masta Ace, all of em. Nas just gives me that raw emotion in almost every song. I find myself breaking down his lyrics as if studying poems. Like an onion going deeper layer by layer and becoming more fascinated with each new thought learned. Truly beautiful.

Haters in hip hop media have been hating Nas for outshining/outrapping their favorites when it comes to rap, so they have routinely tried to downplay and outright ignore his greatness for years. I agree with you on that,I've heard rappers that were deeper, more charismatic and just all around more interesting, but the rappers that are "up there" like Nas,Tupac,Biggie,Snoop Dogg etc,the classic hall of fame rappers Nas is about the best. I mean if we get real technical we could start talking about all the rappers that cant even rap like lil dicky lol. That would just be a disgrace though, and illmatic is a staple in hip hop history.
