This remains one of Nas’ biggest triumphs. This video goes hard. The beat goes hard. The sample go hard, the lyrics and message all go hard in the paint. It’s near end 2023 and this one still hits. Especially now from then after seeing so many friends die or go in and how so much has changed and yet how so much hasn’t. Peace Nas and bless up for this record. I remember the record.

This is FOR SURE the song that made him one of my top 5 fave rappers. This song IS MUSIC. it does what music is supposed to do: provokes emotions. I'm from the west coast and during the beef between east and west, I still listened to Nas because it's great music. People used to talk spit about me listening to east coast rappers (especially during the Pac era) but Idgaf. Good music is good music. I'm forever grateful to him for making GREAT music. :) God bless

I have seen Nas live twice. The second time was at woohah festival in The Netherlands. There were artists from the new school like rea sremmurd. I also enjoyed their show but their backup vocals were so loud you couldn't hear the difference between them actually rapping or if it was a tape playing. Before Nas came up the stage they installed a drum (the only real instrument I saw that day) and when Nas himself entered the stage no mc or other backup followed him. Nas was just performing there all by himself and his drummer. All he realy needs is one mic.

Had the pleasure of hearing this live as the closing track for the Wu-Tang & Nas N.Y. state of mind tour at the o2 arena London. Cannot describe it other than unforgettable & emotional (very). To hear Nas rap this live is bucketlist stuff. I'm in no way a hip hop aficionado, but for me, this is probably miminum top 5 greatest hip hop track of all time, i won't go into the lyrics, flow, storytelling, delivery, or even the masterful production other's can and have put it better than I ever could, but lord have mercy, you feel this one deep in your soul, as a big Jay-z fan (never understood all the hate he gets) I suspect Nas just might be the GOAT.

When I was around 19-20, I would only listen to this song maybe once every 4 or 6 months so it wouldn't lost his special vibe on me, and right when the 3rd verse started I would start crying right away, listen to this in my room alone at night with my headphones, and for me this is one of the most special moments I've experienced. I'm in my 30's now and I still only save this song for special days. Thanks NaS for what you gave you with Stillmatic, and for impacting our lives throught the years!
