NASA Kennedy Space Center Tour | Space Shuttle Atlantis, Saturn V, Apollo Program & More

The Kennedy Space Center, located on the Space Coast of Central Florida, is home to NASA's primary launch facilities and is the most important spaceport in the world. Iconic programs and vehicles such as Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, the Space Shuttle, and now the Artemis program have all used the Kennedy Space Center as their launching point into space, and into history.
Besides being an active spaceport for NASA and its multitude of commercial partners including SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, the Kennedy Space Center also provides a visitors complex and daily tours for the general population to explore, learn and look up in awe and wonder at its many modern and historical peices on display and interactive exhibits.
In January of 2024, I made the trip to Orlando and booked a day tour to the Kennedy Space Center where I was able to witness such peices as the Space Shuttle Atlantis, a complete Saturn V rocket and Lunar Lander, a Rocket garden of NASA's most ionic flight vehicles, Alan Shepard's Apollo 14 EVA suit he wore on the surface of the moon, and so much more.
I highly recommend taking the time to visit the Kennedy Space Center, you'll be at a loss for words after witnessing so much of human history and achievement. I hope this video helps convey what an incredible experience it is, and convinces you to add this to your travel bucket list.

The Space Shuttle is so well presented. I think a lot of younger folk forget here is a reusable space system developed decades before SpaceX. The Space Shuttle was a beast in so many ways.

Even though I kind of had a feeling how they were going to reveal the Atlantis, it was still a really cool way to do it, having the silhouette behind the curtain and then raising it was pretty awesome. I've now had the opportunity to see all 3 of the vehicles that ventured into space, a few years ago I was in LA and visited the California Science Center to see Endeavor and just a week after seeing the Atlantis, I was able to see the Discovery at the Smithsonian. As a space nerd, it was a dream come true. Would still like to see the Enterprise at some point

I took the tour back in 2007 and it was worth every penny. They have different tours to choose from and I suggest you take the “Then and Now” tour.

Thanks! I'd set aside at least an entire day personally. I was there from when the gates opened to when they kicked us all out at the end of the day and I still didn't get to see everything. So definitely give yourself as much time as possible!

I went just a couple months ago, last time I'd had went was about 25 years ago, needless to say, KSC had changed quite a bit. On my recent visit, I wasn't able to get to everything so it was cool to see what I had missed. There is a possibility that I might be able to return there early next month, if I do, I know what to look forward to seeing as far as what I missed on the last trip

I definitely missed a good chunk of KSC myself. There is just so much to see, and the added time of filming it slowed me down even more. But it's a great excuse to go back and see it all over again! Thanks for watching, enjoy your next visit!

I went back in February 2020 before the pandemic and before I had a mega obsession with space, I got to see Atlantis and it was amazing, thinking back on it now, I'm quite sad I didn't get to see the Saturn V, but at 15 years of age, I didn't really know how to find it, I found Atlantis by accident trying to find restrooms, I was on a cruise ship and got to see the Atlas V 411 on February 10th 2020 fly in the sky in the middle of the ocean, and I was absolutely breath taken, by then on I've devoted my self to space since then 😂

Went to KSC on two day pass with the Tour on Day 1 and a Falcon Heavy Launch on Day 2 (Also did New York and DC as part of a bespoke Holiday that my 80 year old mother and I (Aged 57) did from the UK in Sep/Oct 2023)). Got to DC and found the Falcon Heavy shot had been put back a week and we were going to miss it. My Brother contacted me on a internet video call and said. You're there on Friday, there is an Atlas V going in the morning, so plans for the Thursday and Friday were changed. Did Day one on the Wednesday. Did the Rocket Garden First and got talking to another Brit who told me there was a Starlink Falcon 9 going up that night!! Did Atlantis next, as that was the Third Shuttle I saw on the Holiday (Enterprise in New York and Discovery in the NASM at Dulles (Not the first time I had seen the Enterprise as she was taken to the Paris Air Show in 1983 on a 747SCA and she stopped off for three days in the UK, at an airport three miles from where I lived!!!). Had to rush the Atlantis hall ( to get the tour bus) and didn't do the lower floor so didn't see the Wreckage of Challenger and Columba. Did the Saturn V and the New Tech bit and called it a day. Missed the Launch of the Starlink as the Launch was put back and put back, weather forecast looked like it was going to be scrubbed , so went to bed, woke up and found out that it had been launched in a gap in the storms. Did the Hero's Hall and the Atlas Launch on the Friday.

Thank you for sharing, with a sort of POV we could believe we were there ! I've been to KSC in 2009 to witness the launch of STS-125, the shuttles were still flying, no access to Saturn V building on this day due to proximity of launch pad (saw the other one at L.B Johnson in Houston years earlier), of course no orbiter to be seen from this close, and no spaceX yet...but in exchange I saw this very ATLANTIS orbiter blast off, the right day, at the exact hour scheduled which was tricky...what a memory ! You make me want to come back and see improvements and great exibitions I can see from your sharing...cheers from France. C'mon NASA 1 SLS launch every 2 years??? Makes us still dream !

You're lucky to have witnessed a shuttle launch in person! It would definitely be really cool to go back and see Atlantis up close after seeing it in action, plus all the other new additions to KSC since then. I was there the day the Axiom 3 mission was supposed to lift off, but unfortunately the launch was scrubbed. It's on my bucket list to see one in person and I'm hoping I can make it down for Artemis II!

Yes. It's insane! Our tax money paid for NASA and this is the thanks. Our family of three only got to the parking lot (which was $20!) Only to find out we could not afford the $210 to visit. In the early 70"s when I was youngest of 6 kids and.my dad was a poor teacher (not paid like today) our parents got all 8 of us in on a small budget. Not today! It's THEFT!

Expensive, yes. But worth every penny. Remember, they have to pay the tour guides and vendors, which is probably not part of the budget.

As far as I can remember, the command module was completely taken apart for the research led by Frank Borman.

I didn't show it in the video, but they have a memorial room dedicated to the Apollo 1 crew in the Saturn V building. The actual scorched capsule hatch is on display, along with other artifacts and astronaut memorabilia.

The Apollo 1 capsule is in storage, and is considered a gravesite. Not something the families want public access to. Search for the documentary on KZfaq

Wow... Even though it's design in the 70's but the space shuttle still looks like something that came from the future... I never been in america and i only saw that space ship from youtube or tv or even some videos (before youtube exist) but i always amazed by how great that ship how great the engineers at that time... Today people still launch rocket or space ship but nothing like space shuttle...

I'll retire soon and I'll finally be able to see in person the machines I watched on a black and white TV as a child. I'm from the Netherlands so that will be an even more expensive entrance fee than $70.

I remember to Columbia disaster when I was a little boy.I literally cried my eyes thought about it.Cause I was a huge Space shuttle fan.When I was 6 years and it still hurts me that the challenger and Columbia are gone.Just make me want to cry Rip the Crew a space shuttle challenger. I can definitely see where you're coming from. Seeing as that I was a solo traveller likely visiting KSC for one of the few times I'll ever get to experience it, I felt justified paying the ticket price to see things I've dreamt of since I was a kid. But I definitely understand how a larger group hoping to visit more often would struggle to afford doing so at that price point.

I don’t think the NASA budget includes upkeep of the tours and displays. They’re not going for a high profit margin, but paying everyone, benefits, insurance maintenance, etc… isn’t cheap. Your point is understandable and I hope they relook at the cost to visitors

NASA only gets 0.4% of the federal budget, almost every single thing has ever done has been defunded by Congress at one point.

NASA doesn't pay for the Visitors Centre!!! it's run by a commercial organisation. The only bit of the deal run by NASA is the bus tour around the Space Centre.
