"That's a hard lick!" How many times you hear that during the season? Lol...guy cracks me up. Btw, ever since Dale Earnhardt lost his life, Daryll has always claimed each crash looks really bad and he's worried about the driver. While he was watching his brother win the Daytona 500, he got very excited and emotional while Dale was pretty much sitting dead in his car. I think he felt so bad for being happy for his brother while Dale was sitting there, dead. He obviously had no clue the crash was that serious so you can't blame him one bit. But I think he decided to play it safe from then on, so he doesn't seem like he doesn't care about the other drivers. Poor guy...

@therayven3147

Yes, I still remember that race... And it's funny how Earnhardt was playing defensive and not offensive that race... Then again maybe he wanted his boy to have that race seeing that, if my memory serves me correctly, Jr. has not won a Daytona 500 up to that point... Also he may have been like, "fuck it, I got all three of my car in the top three, so..."... Either way, it was a sad state of affairs in that day... D. W. was Earnhardt's closest friend in NASCAR, and has never really been the same sense his death...
@chasee3797
@chasee3797 5 жыл бұрын
@@therayven3147 Dale's death very much affected Darrell and Michael Waltrip. I believe he was perfectly content with finishing third that day. He also kept saying to Michael that he was going to win in his car and how they were going to team up during the race. Dale always believed in Michael and knew he could drive, even amid the 461 race losing streak he had.

@therayven3147 5 жыл бұрын
@@chasee3797 yeah, I remember Michael's reaction after he got word Earnhardt died... He was devastated... Yeah, Michael was a good driver... @@ricky107_ In many past ARCA races (most notably 2005 at Daytona), many drivers just pile into crashes that have been occurring for over 10 seconds without slowing down. If someone piles into a crash while barely slowing down, it became known as an ARCA brake (basically saying that the only way for ARCA drivers to slow down is to hit another car or object). In video games and racing simulations, many people still yell "ARCA BRAKE!!!" over chat if a car piles into a crash without slowing down.

You can't have a brake failures list without Jimmie Johnson in the 92 car at Watkins

6:28 and 8:17 definitely looked the worst, glad there weren't any casualties in the video. Can't imagine dieing to a break failure. (In NASCAR heaven) How did you die? Oh, the usual. Crash due to break failure. You?

The only one I didn't see on here was the one from Kansas where Almirola lost his brakes and slammed into Danica. As I recall he missed the next six races due to injury.

I was going to suggest Geoff Bodine's crash at Watkins Glen in 1989, but after looking it up and watching it more closely, it appears his brake failure was a result of tire failure. So, I'm not sure this wreck fits the criteria.

When the brakes blow you got three ways to stop in a race, 1. Engine brake, but that won’t do much if your at track speed. 2. Slam the wall, but that wrecks yo car and hurts lien hell. And 3. Slam into the poor bastard in front of you.

I don't get why they decide to try and dive inside to scrub speed instead of running along side the wall and taking a softer hit

anthony cope panic of the moment to try and get the car to slow down. You don’t think when it happens just react

@@ClummzyDummzy I can't disagree that they have the panic moment of knowing the crash is coming but I think they try and hero drive vs crash the car...they have way more time to make the choice of ride the wall or try and scrub speed through the grass then they do when a crash is happening in front of them and have a dozen variables like what the cars around them are going to do and where they are going....they always try to save the car

Yeah, true. But you also gotta remember, these dudes are going 180+ into these corners. By the time drivers hit their brakes they are already on the inside of the track far away from the outside wall ready to take the turn, THEN they realize that their brakes dont work.

I see the point, but it is easy to say what "I would have done" in that situation, but believe me, I have raced cars before, and trouble can come at you in less than a tenth of a second, and all these thoughts run through your head at 100+ mph... What you see on the TV don't do what is actually happening justice... We see a crash and say, "well, that could have been avoided" or "I would have done it this way", but untill you're actually *IN* that situation, you really don't understand how it feels...
