@@kadens I was born in 84. Started watching racing in 1991. My favorite driver was Davey. My Father and Grandfather gave me one of the best birthday presents of all time. A Davey and Kulwiki 1993 clock which i still have. I remember the days when i was just a kid getting to go to bristol. (Being from Tn). In 2007 right before my dad was killed i got to go to Daytona. Best time ever. Nascar might have changed but, the memories will always be here to stay.

1993 was a tragic year for me and NASCAR also. Alan Kulwicki died and Davy a short few months later. Although you never know these great people, you feel like you've lost your best friend. Both of these men were "HUGE" inspirations to me in many, many ways. This is an extremely moving video and more than likely will be for many years to any and all old school NASCAR fans. Liz Allison, Bobby Allison, and Mrs. Allison have to be the strongest people on the face of the earth, to have experienced and withstood so much heart breaking tragedies and keep on with life. None of these drivers of today will never be able to compare to Davy or Alan, or any of the other drivers of those days. NASCAR is a joke today, all due to greed and the all mighty dollar.

True. And what upsets me the most to this day about that helicopter ride was that he was just one foot off the ground until Davey turned the craft to the right but the helicopter suddenly climbed 25 feet and slammed violently on the ground on his side....Again, he was just one foot off the ground.

Davey was becoming the face of NASCAR . Who can say how many championships that man would’ve won. With natural talent & the guidance of his dad & the Alabama Gang the sky was the limit. It hurts a lot to lose my brother but seeing these Davey films brings back good memories of having a few cold beers & watching Davey drive.. R.I.P. Davey & Kevin! # 28 🏁

Another year later and I am watching this video once again of one of my greatest heroes. I have battled cancer for 16 years and it has returned once again. This time with a VENGEANCE and VERY AGGRESSIVE. I am scheduled for a major surgery in the near future to remove a few cancerous organs. I am sure it will be a life altering ordeal, but this video and Davey, once again still has the power of uplifting spirits. I still wonder how Davey will ever know the impact and what has done for soooooooo many fans and people almost 30 years after his own passing. Davey was a real man of men. So humble and easy going. He was a sincere and huge inspiration for many years and still is. I do sincerely hope he is resting in Heavenly peace and Liz, Robbie, and Krista are doing well and living life to the fullest!!!

That was a tough day, July 13th 1993. I graduated HS that year & was on summer vacation awaiting entry into the United States Air Force that fall. I was laying in bed that morning just thinking about what to do that day when my mother, who was up getting ready for work, asked me if I knew who Davey Allison was. I'm from South Carolina & NASCAR racing in my hometown is a pretty big deal so I was a huge fan & my mother knew it. Davey's helicopter crash had been on Sportscenter the night before & they said then that there was a chance he might not make it through the night so when my mother asked if I knew who he was I knew he was gone. Chevrolet has always been my brand of choice, I was a huge fan of Cale Yarborough when he drove the Hardee's Chevy Monte Carlo & when he retired I became a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt but there was something about Davey, even though he drove a Ford that was just awesome. I dunno he was just kinda like someone who would be a neighbor of yours who you could hang out with & play stick ball with & that car that #28 Havoline Ford was a badass lookin ride so whenever Earnhardt wasn't running well I rooted for Davey. Wanted him to win that 1992 Winston Cup sooo bad, you'll never be forgotten... #DaveyAllison28 RIP...

I would always cheer and root for Davy every race I watched him in. When Alan Kulwicki came along I suddenly had two favorite drivers to root for. It's strange how we lost them both within months apart. No matter what kind of a mood or how I am feeling, this video has a way of lifting my spirits. You get a tremendous warm feeling for everyone in the video. The memory of Davy and Liz Allison will be forever in my heart, and Alan Kulwicki too.

3:50 i was 4 when that race happened but it still stuck with me, family wanted bobby to win, i wanted davey to win. i've never truly had a favorite driver since davey passed away i really liked ernie irvan and ricky rudd and bobby labonte and kyle petty and jeff gordon guy was pretty good after awhile i suppose never really had a favorite driver ever again though. jamie mcmurray when he was first starting out in 2003 or so came close to getting me having a new favorite driver again, but then sometimes he acted more cocky like gordon or kenseth or kyle/kurt busch etcetera and it was frustrating. after bobby labonte started to mature he almost became my favorite, but then he started having inferior equipment at times and that was when the 3-5 car operations where taking precedence and dominating everyone else in the sport, and he started showing the labonte temper, it worked with terry labonte but didnt suit bobby's persona/image at all basically davey allison was it for me, the new drivers just arent the same and after everything became corporate too much and multi car too much and restrictor plated too much so they could get more crashes to please tv ratings/networks, it was just frustrating it got to the point iroc was far more interesting but then the networks didnt want to cover iroc and the nascar drivers that tended to participate in iroc were guys like mark martin and rusty wallace that i absolutely despised/disliked growing up. i miss davey, i was only 9 when he died, only got to watch him for 4-5 years and mostly just got to hear races on the radio back then on that mrn thing with that good voice over guy eli gold or something think was his name, barely was old enough when he died to comprehend it and was just starting to understand racing a bit really by then, but its never been the same since he died and when earnhardt sr. died senselessly at daytona, that just killed my interest remaining in nascar for the most part. then the nextel cup and nextel chase, yeah whatever..not interested. the races just started seeming bland boring crash happy and rigged... you can even see it in clips of races/interviews from the 80s and early 90s, so many personalities and big names and great drivers, and even jerks like wallace and martin were still really skilled drivers in many ways and if not for some of the horrifying crashes rusty had the sport would have had far more deaths and likely been shut down by now, roof flaps and other technologies were developed bc of him that made everyone safer. basically something started changing when darrel waltrip went to the broadcast booth and michael waltrip around the same time became a team owner instead of a driver. that seemed to mark the start of a change over from great drivers with great personalities that were fun to watch and cars that were different enough the equipment really mattered but back then a non-sponsored single car team could come in with 50k car/investment and win a race and do well that season and become fully sponsored for several years and potentially build into a multi team operation. back then you had 85 cars or something crazy all good teams trying to make the field and they only accepted 53 cars sometimes only like 45 or something. so the cars on the track were all cream of the crop, anywhere from 8-10th place could usually win fairly easily, you had drivers coming from 25th mid way or late into the races ending up winning or getting close you had tactics and strategy and running the race at your own pace and playing possum and swoops and swaps and yet you had minimal crashes bc drivers still had courtesy and tried to avoid wrecking each other unlike the late 1990s and since where nascar and sponsors and tv people seem to tell drivers to wreck each other at every/any opportunity. it used to be about skill by the time the nextel chase for the cup came along it was all boring routine bottlenecked, everyone running full out in similar cars the whole race, no more drafting and passing as much, no tactics, just like a freaking demo derby at 200mph, no actual racing anymore you'd almost think vince mcmahon bought out nascar bc it was like the difference between wcw that at least tried to put on athletic/showmanship matches and wwe that just did bullcrap storylines and perverted crap and had everyone standing around the ring talking instead of even bothering to pretend they were competing in a athletic competition or wrestling match the races for the nextel cup/chase just started seeming blatantly/obviously rigged whether they were actually or not. and it was no longer allegations/feuds between drivers or owners or anything, it just started seeming like it came down from the sanctioning body or tv studios/sponsors... also back in the 80s it mattered if people had a pontiac or a buick or a dodge or chevy or ford later it became just chevy vs ford and then after that the templates got so stringent and so similar you'd have been better off giving them identical multi-color iroc cars and letting them sort it out. the car of tomorrow just ended up being a joke or publicity stunt it mostly seemed at the end of the day. i just miss davey and that whole era of racing where you could actually watch people race and actually hear darrel waltrip and neil bonnet etc calling the races and their excitement was contagious/infectious and they could make it fun even when you were stuck away from home and hearing it on a radio
