My sisters class has a kid in their class with Down syndrome. (Her class is very young) and so her entire class is learning sign language to understand her. The girl can hear what you’re saying, and can respond in English just usually responds in sign language. It’s so cute because every time they get taught it she comes home and teaches me! Now when she can she uses sign language instead of talking to me :)

Although what he said about the homeless stereotype is somewhat true, when my dad lived in Chicago, he found that if he offered homeless people food instead of money, he could determine if they abused drugs, sadly, only a few actually wanted food.

Hubby and I were homeless addicts when we met. I had been put in a wheelchair from domestic violence and just given up on life. We got clean together, worked our butts off, and got off the street. Took us 2 years and an entire pregnancy to do so. We worked, collected cans, did anything to save money. After 1 year on a waiting list we got help with an apartment. We moved in 2/28/2018 and our son was born 7:55 am on 3/1/2018. We've been clean just over 3 years, our families are back in our lives, our son is 2 and very well cared for. His mental illness led him to be homeless and the domestic violence system here is so messed up. We've come so far and have no shame because hitting rock bottom have us a place to build a firm foundation. Not everyone is an addict or alcoholic. Mental illness plays a huge part. We couldn't get the help we needed so we self medicated. I wish people had access to the help they needed.
