Dmitry Kozko's wild ride will end in a courtroom sooner rather than later. NASCAR fans have been left with a defective product, created by a team posturing itself as a leading racing game developer and snatching up high profile licenses left & right, yet upon closer inspection appear to be little more than a Russian web developer and mobile game crew who were totally unfamiliar with the source material, and basically shouldn't have gotten this project to begin with. Or any of their announced projects, for that matter.
Ignoring the clusterfuck of a situation Motorsport Games is dealing with from a business standpoint, there are still people on the payroll, and they're still releasing products - today brings us a free 2022 season expansion for the ill-fated NASCAR 21: Ignition.
In any other racing game, this would have been an incredible deal.
Yet any trace amounts of good faith the company could have earned by working out fundamental issues plaguing the AI or framerate, whipping NASCAR 21 into a forgettable yet fundamentally sound stock car racing quasi-sim, has instead been squandered.
I don't actually think the team bothered to do anything beyond inject clearly unfinished new cars and tracks into the game. The content was demonstrably not tested and has left the title in a completely unplayable state. A half-decent lawyer and articulate sim racer explaining the intricacies of just how bad this product is, could easily turn this into a class action lawsuit if one isn't already on the drawing board.

Hello Austin I don't believe you are human from what I have seen your bodily functions see to be set on an egg shaped cooking timer I refuse to believe a loving god looked upon your soul with fondness. I am a professional snake charmer and for the past 15 years I have seen more light beauty and/or divinity in those heartless creatures then you. In late February my wife was bit by one of those creatures and died while carrying our son and that was around the time I questioned my faith and although I resolved those issue within my support system after discovering you I have come to find there truly can not be a loving god although I am quite conflicted in that I don't think normal conditions would allow something like yourself to exist so I thank you for reaffirming my belief in that a creator greater then us exists even if they look upon us in contempt :)

It feels like it got worse. Idk how its possible but everything is worse. Online is broken where like half the field is inder ai control on track and the gen 6 cars dont have a 3rd gear. If i kept listing all the problems id be writing a Stephen king novel

@@1400hpnextgen7 not really.. I ran a race at Talladega. Under AI control I turned dead left, wrecking the whole field, DNFing 4 Cars. I was the only car not to spin out completely. So I easily won the race. The 8 laps felt too long. I won the race by 2.6 Seconds. (The variance would be higher, only I hit the wall).

Yeah I would recommend passing up on it. I only play it for casual fun and it's hard to have fun. I haven't played in months and I updated to the expansion and I only tried out a couple of tracks. New Atlanta and Watkins Glen (it was late at night). It now has a fuel and tire guage and the AI checks up on the corners at Atlanta Superspeedway. Also showing minimal tire wear, I was having to off throttle to keep from getting too tight and washing up the track even on a good corner entry. The AI lags by zipping back and forth all fidgety and at one point I even fell through the racing surface

I'm glad you opened with the credit scroll. I've been saying this since day 1. Put that team in a room and give them a simple 30 question fill in the blank Nascar quiz that covers rules, drivers, and tracks. I'm sure that would be telling. I'm willing to spend money on a game designed by stock car fans. Instead we get Ignition that is a slap in the face to any Nascar fan that enjoys the sport.

I tried to play as Austin Cindric at Daytona today in the Next Gen. Yeah I rage quit on the first lap with the AI being unbearable and the car out of control. The AI ran me over in practice for no reason. 🤷‍♀️ tbh waiting on the Heat 5 expansion. At least I can drive in Heat 5.

In the one hour me and my friend spent testing (me having bought to try it out and my friend who's had it since launch-so 2 hours of playtime combined with 2 different perspectives) we found the following: 1. Bristol dirt for next gen is literally just the oval with dirt texture slapped on and the AI made extremely loose. You drive just like the oval while all the AI slides about like they're on ice. 2. Atlanta SS is just fucked I dont know how to explain it the track is just bad the AI cant drive right 3. Sonoma's racing line(s) are just fucked, cars just randomly go off the track in the turns (including right into walls like off of 8) 4. As you pointed out, Roval the AI are just dead as well 5. In Homestead the cars just randomly wreck out and get stuck causing mass despawning *The next two are extremely important for those looking to buy this game:* *6. The next gen cars aren't available in career, just race now and multiplayer* *7. The gen 6 is literally undrivable (at least in automatic shifting) you will always go straight from 2nd to 4th, fucking your acceleration every time.*

I find it funny that you say that… Do you realize that if you actually watch his videos it’s complete opposite? He literally plays the game as a joke, he has literally said before how awful ever game this is. I don’t know why you think he actually thinks this is a good game. There is no doubt this is a great handling game, in the sense of the physics are very good, and it’s very fun to drive. The AI is completely broken… That is literally what he says in his videos. I don’t even like the guy, I’m just simply saying that’s what he talks about.

I remember previous to this game coming out Radman was crazy excited saying this is going to be the next thing since sliced bread that look at the graphics look at this look at that and as the previews were coming out people were noticing the AI. They were noticing at how blind they were how they slam in to you they cause you to wreck they hit the wall they ride in efficient lines and just all-around terrible and broken. Yet he had high hopes but the minute that this game came out and he actually saw what was being delivered his tune changed very quickly. And now I have to agree he does it more on a joke type of basis.

actually gateway was in nascar heat 2-5 because of the truck series, it was always one of the best tracks for multiplayer too edit: also the AI actually knew how to turn left lol

@@BoleDaPole nascar heat ai was great actually, the collision physics were infuriating in the first three games but in 4 you can have some pretty good races with them also austin was on the quality assurance team at slightly mad studios, QA is not responsible for fixing the code, they just playtest and report issues to the the people who _are_ responsible for fixing it

Fun fact: NASCAR is EXTREMELY popular amongst rFactor 2 players from Russia (and other Eastern Europe countries), so there would be plenty of people in those countries able to assist on the development.

you're right, Nascar isn't just any car competition, the particularities of oval racing + pack racing are immense, and any shortcoming is immediately visible, ruining the experience. I suspect most car games have similar flaws, but you don't notice them as much on a road track than on a speedway. The context is just more forgiving. It's all about immersion, and even I (who knows shit about nascar) can understand there's none when you overtake 30 cars in 2 laps on your own top line which they don't bother using...

My company has tried exporting work to job shops in other parts of the world to save money on many occasions. Often times these places know they programs they are using, but are clueless about the subject matter of the project and it shows in their work. I recognize what I’m looking at here with Ignition. However utilizing low cost labor is a fundamental part of the MSG business plan, because it has to be. This game and company is never going to improve for as long at that is the case, that’s been my experience anyway

It's sad and pathetic to me that all the NASCAR games that were good (with the exception of iRacing, which is also good despite it's haters) were made in 2009 and before. It feels like art in general suffered a stroke in 2010. Games, music, movies, TV, all of it.

Why is there not a case being built against motorsport games for the lack of everything issues related with this failure of a Nascar video game? There is hundreds of players who have repeatedly messages, texted and emailed the support team with the issues you have discussed in this fantastic video to no resolution from the support team. So how do we get justice for having to deal with this video game?

Skitzoposting thinking there's some sort of legal recourse for buying an obvious scam. You could try and sue for false advertising, but not telling people about issues isn't false advertising. If you're a shareholder, that's different, they've lied in their reports. But consumers? It's called research, we knew the game would be shit and a scam months before it came out.

I played NASCAR 15 not so long ago and while far from perfect it’s a much more enjoyable game than any of the Heat games and this. The driving physics feels surprisingly good and while the AI is pretty dumb, they can at least do superspeedway racing. When you create something that makes the Eutechnyx games look good, you have to start questioning the quality of your stuff.

The only person who was even remotely associated with making legitimate racing games was Stephen Hood, and he is long gone. Everyone else has almost NO history regarding motorsports of any kind, and much less any Nascar experience as a fan. Looking at that credit roll and seeing nothing but Eastern block names tied to a Nascar licensed product brought back bad memories of Eutechnyx.

I did a half distance race at Road America last night. Pit for fuel at lap 12-13 or so. As soon as I changed tires I had no grip at all. No brakes either. No idea what the fuck happened. Tires don't stay cold for 10 laps around a 4 mile course.

I feel bad for drivers,teams and sponsors the royalties are bare minimum off this game because nobody wants to buy a broken game, that's a update from the last years. Nascar has taken no responsibility for it either, this game should be the reason drivers are getting rich, so you can play a actual good nascar with friends witch brings more people, most importantly sponsors appealing to children (paintjob,logos and picking thier favorite driver it's what hooked me as a kid with the EA games ) but Nascar signs this lazy licensing deal and doesnt apologize to the fans,driver,owners and sponsors. Yes ultimately motorsport games is at fault with the way they run thier company but Nascar is the bigger problem, they dont care enough to try and they dont apologize for the endorsing of this company and thier games.

Heat 5 ain’t great but at least it poses any challenge at all and isn’t completely broken as a game. Concerning why more players aren't angry with this game, NASCAR is routinely crapping on its fans...with almost zero consequences. Why aren't they angry? I think they're too dumb to notice anything wrong, and this is a glaring example. NASCAR doesn't care if it works or if it doesn't, they just punished the guy screaming loudest about their broken next-generation race car with a crippling fine and loss of points, attempting to push the narrative that Harvick's team was cheating, never mind Harvick finished 29th.

I paid $13 brand new still in the plastic for a copy WITH A WARRANTY from gamestop 1 year after release and it was a DAY 1 EDITION and I was absolutely amazing I could find it then I played it and understood why it was still brand new

I find that I'm gravitating more and more towards your content with every video. I don't see why you're apparently so polarised in this community when all you're doing is just speaking the truth. But the reality is that most of us don't want to hear the truth, we just want to keep swallowing blue pills. Those AIW mistakes looks like someone's first time using the (g)old Bob's Track Builder. People who thinks work on this is super hard or whatever probably don't know how AI lines on ISI games are just "lines" you do around the track puting points and sayin' "hey stupid bot, the wall is here", or "you turn here". I speaking look very easy to master what its not true to be fair, but from a video game leader, the most awesome company in the entire world with amazing studios (none of them in Russia, of course) and the greatest game engine of all freaking time, we could not expect less than a decent work. (contains irony).

Before the update/dlc/expansion, i couldn't even drive the cars... they'd spin out feeling like ice, or would start turning themselves to right or left at random with steering assist off. Seems like the update fixed that for my game and I can actually drive around tracks decently... but the ai and pitroad glitches and etc are there.🙄

The ISI engine in the 2000s was considered the best for real-world simulators, used by industry leaders in flight sims and motorsports. Even some F1 teams apparently still use this engine with rf pro. I played rf1 for years and was impressed with how it handled for the time. I can't believe how things have deteriorated; it's almost like a case of self-sabotage.

I have this on Xbox series s and every track my car just always drives it's self to the left can't even complete one lap re downloaded over 5 times used 4 different controller's just don't get it

This is why I quit playing months ago the game is just that absurdly bad and in fact I would rather play NASCAR Rivals over this bc it actually utilizes the engine from the Heat series which is a landslide better even if the physics are weird like how your car becomes a bouncy ball if it flips.

actually yes, was in two different leagues for them. Didnt like how either were run but the car and racing were ok. Won a few events and it wasn't terrible to drive.

Great video as always. Also, a question to anyone reading this. I'm from Europe and have been following NASCAR for a few years, but I'm obviously not an expert. I would love to do a career mode in a fairly modern NASCAR game, but I'm not quite sure where to look. I would prefer a more simcade/arcade game, because ideally I want to play with a controller, but I also have a G29. I have NASCAR 14, 15, Heat 4 and '21: Ignition on Steam but I've been also looking at potentially getting Heat 5. Or should I just get a PS2 or GameCube Emulator to play some older NASCAR games' career modes like Dirt to Daytona, Thunder 2004, 05 Chase for the Cup, etc? And before anyone says "Just get NR2003", I have both a vanilla and a modded install of that game, but it can be an absolute pain to get everything right in that game, and I want a somewhat simcade/arcade experience, not a full on sim.

If you want modern career mode and a good game that will soon have next gens get heat 5. You could also go get NASCAR heat 2000. I saw a mod for that game that completely modernizes it. Cars, tracks everything. Not exactly something for career mode but I would say it falls under the type of game you’re looking for.

Name the last time a class action lawsuit against a gaming company was ever successful? Look at the license, all you are really promised is something that has 1's and 0's in it. The only ones that have even a remote chance at successfully suing them are Investors and NASCAR

If the first Nascar Heat Evolution had this graphic and sound, it would be a masterpiece next to ignition. Says all. Nascar Heat always had a good ai an makes fun to race. And it has no buggy cautions. That makes the difference.

Makes me sad to think that there is no righting the ship of motorsport games. All the licenses that they have acquired is spectacular and having a polished game for all of them would be spectacular. But, it seems that there's not a darn thing that can be done to have any hope of any of that happening. There's no righting a ship that's already on fire and sinking.
