Good question - the Ducky One is one of the keyboard that don't require software. Everything is controlled on the keyboard itself. And no, just usual DIP LED.

That should be doable by just soldering the LED on the pad. You can put the LED on the pad to test if it works orn ot.

A lot more screws, tbh. And a lot of plastic clips around the keyboard that holds both pieces together. Patience is key here.

Hi James, I tihnk that would be the left Windows key only. I didn't go back and re-solder the LED myself, so I can't confirm with you on this. You can insert the LED and have the pins in contact so you can try it out first before soldering. As for the LEDs, not sure which one in particular you're referring. Hello. You don't have to de-solder each and every key to get the LED in. It's just that each and every LED hole is covered by solder even though it is unused. Not sure why, but presumably to save cost. After you remove those solder, you can slide in the LED in the correct polarity and then solder them onto the board. It'll work right away. As far as I know, this doesn't work on the full sized version.

I've never seen the PCB for the Ducky Zero. Maybe have a check at the user manual for the Ducky Zero?

i use ducky zero, yes it have a led hole, but idk it will work or not

You can technically try to short a LED on those holes and try if the LED lights up or not before soldering. Also, report back to us so that we can update the post :D

Single color only. The PCB only has two holes for the LED (RGB has 4 pins) and the controller only supports single colored LEDs.

I reviewed that keyboard not long ago before too. nasilemaktech.com/2016/04/04/review-ducky-one-with-pbt-dye-sub-keycap-dkon1508/ I'm pretty sure that this guide/mod is applicable for that keyboard, but I definitely *don't* recommend it. The only thing different from the basic version is the keycaps. The PBT Dye-Sub keycap is definitely *not backlit compatible*.

At first, I was worried about the resistor values too. However based on my research, the LEDs can tolerate quite a large range of voltage/current. Of course, this is also with the consideration that red LEDs use up less energy compared to a blue or green LED too.

Wasn't my board, but a friend's. Soldered in 1.8mm pink LEDs.

Yes you can, but get a smaller LEDs to compensate for the lip. That should do it.

will 3mm led with lip fit? because i can't find any smaller led at the local store, or can you?

I personally don't have any lipped 3mm LEDs to try out. Kelvin Pratama down in the comments section on this video used 3mm LEDs and it worked. Not sure if you can get the exact same LEDs as he does. Else, the best way is to take your board there and try it out. Remember to remove the solder first.

Unfortunately, no. That LED slot does not have any PCB traces (wire) connecting to it. You'll have to use other jumper wires to make it light up.

What is the dimension for the square led diode you are using? I can't find 3mm no-lip led here in the USA. I have an rgb ducky shine 3 with a few busted leds and planning to fix them soon

I'm using 2x3x4mm flangeless rectangular LED, and it sits perfectly

Yes, you need to press some key combos for the LEDs to turn on. Have a look at the DKON1687S user manual instead.

Hey there, I'm not sure if the Blackwidow Tournament Edition has the few requirements for this mod to work: 1. LED holes 2. LED controller 3. The software to control LEDs If the keyboard has them, then I don't see any issues attempting this mod :) Do it at your own risk, still. yes they have LED Holes and Led controller cause i have a fully working razer logo lighting up on my keyboard and software to control leds i have them too

LED holes is one good indication. Try plugging in an LED and touch the pins to see if the LED lights up before proceeding. As for backlit comptible keycaps, most ABS keycaps are backlit-compatible. Try buying ABS doubleshot ones - they're of better quality.

I just bought a purple and green PBT backlit keycaps and I'm going to put green and purple/UV LEDs on it. It's gonna look sick. No we don't. The full-sized keyboard doesn't have the diodes needed - which adds even more complexity to mod the keyboard.

Probably because of firmware issue. Can you press other combinations to increase the LED brightness?

@@NasiLemakTech The manual says Fn + Up or Down arrow but it does not affect the led brightness not even the num lock caps lock leds

@@7Ds7 strange 🤔 sounds like it's either firmware incompatibility or electronic issue. Did you flash the RGB version of this keyboard's firmware?

@@NasiLemakTech No i did not flash because my keyboard has non backlit version of the firmware 1.01.02 and the only ones available on the website for either backlit or non backlit are 1.01.01 (minor version down) and they flash does not go true as it states that i have "same or newer version". Updating the firmware for the backlit version was my go to option but besides the fact that it does not allow me i also do not see on the ducky website a version greater than 1.01.01 And yep i see the mod is for Ducky One but as the user Immanuel stated that it works for Ducky One 2 on these comments and in the reddit thread i thought i give it a go, the only difference is that mine is full and not tkl

That's an interesting issue. Not sure how that issue persisted. For us, we just mod the keyboard to light up and that's it.

Unfortunately no. There's no RGB LED controller for the keyboard, and there are only 2 pins for single color LED. RGB LED needs 4 pins.
