In this video i show you how to open the Ducky ONE mechanical keyboard. after it's opened, you can repair or mod it.

hello, i have a ducky shine 2 for a couple of years now and i found your video since im looking to change my keyboard case for a care that my keys are raised completely from the case itself. i dont know if you ever saw it or if its even possible but your video is really well made, it will help a lot.

When I removed the 5pin usb connector I did it from the other end (by accident) which is much easier however it seems I have damaged the keyboard by connecting it back but flipped the other way around. Is that possible? One way I get a message saying "usb not recognized" and the other way I get no message. No lights either way, completely dead. Checking with a volt meter I get 4.99V to the main pcb. Is there a fix to this or did I really break my ducky with reverse polarity?

Hello. Your video was very helpful in showing how the opening of a mechanical keyboard MIGHT be accomplished, but it only got me so far. My situation appears to be unique, in that I have a DAS mechanical keyboard and opening the top two corners of the keyboard seems a bit different from your demonstration. What are the chances that you have a similar video for a DAS keyboard or can point me in the direction of just where I might find one? Thanks much for your video demonstration. It is appreciated.

Do you (or anyone else) have any tips for sourcing the LEDs themselves? I found someone on alibaba but they say I have to order 50 of them as a minimum (!). I only want to replace a couple LEDs

I have a different keyboard but it dissembles the same way. I cant figure out how ti take the corners off. Any tips?

afaik , ducky one is the only keyboard that has Nkey roll over over usb It registers ALL keys when pressed , while most mech. keyboards only register 6 or 8 keys over sub When you go to windows hardware , you,ll notice that the ducky one it seen as2 separate keyboards . I think that's the way they do it

From doing this myself to customise a Ducky Shine 6. There are a total of 8 screws on the bottom of the keyboard. The first 5 are visible. The 6th is under the warranty sticker, unlike in this video you can't get the warranty sticker off in one piece. The 7th and eighth screws are under the small round rubber feet in the corners (not the square feet). Once all those screws are removed you can loosen the clips at the top and bottom of the case as shown in this video using a credit card or similar. HTH.

Do you recommend any specific LED for these keyboards? One of the LED on mine has become dimmer than the rest and I'm not sure what I need to replace it with.

3mm flangeless. but it's very hard to color match since each batch of LED will have a different color. best bet is to send in for warranty replacement.

My brother spilled some tea on my keyboard, and after unplugging it and letting it dry the left alt key is gummed up. I was hoping you might be able to recommend any course of action. I've got isopropyl alcohol, but I don't know if there is a proper way of cleaning mechanical switches or if im just screwed.

Are those PBT key caps? I didn't know Ducky made PBT key cap if they are. Thats the only negative thing about my Shine 3, the cheapo, thin ABS keycaps. Replaced them with some PBT caps frpm Aliexpress and it's amazing what a difference it makes. It feels and sounds so much better. Although I have to say, I do miss the Ducky branding on the windows keys and space bar.

they do make pbt double shot (rgb capable) keycaps. My Ducky One Rgb came with them.

Here is the thing, My keyboard got wet and it's "Ins, Del, End, PgUp, PgDn" led was on at minimum brightness when it signals off. It turns on correctly with all the effects and not visible under the keyboard. Should I try to open it to dry it or leave it be?

Is there any way to open the switches themselves for lubing without de-soldering or is it impossible with the mounting plate in the way?

You need to de-solder. the keys are on top of the mounting plate, and the only way to remove that plate would be to remove the keys. there is a small lip in the side of the switches.

Hey Bro, if i want to replace my switch do i must desolder the led pins too? Or just the switch???

If you still looking for an answer; usually the led are attached to the top of the switch, I suggest to desolder the led too.

seee them balls in the mechanism well mine are falling out and it makes a noise when i tilt it

The FN/Function key on my Duck One TKL RGB won't work. I've tried many online key testers and still nothing. The main problem with this, is that my RGB backlighting is stuck on rainbow and I want to change it to red. However, you can only change the RGB via pressing the FN key. Does anyone know how I can change the RGB without pressing FN? I tried using my other keyboard to hold down FN, however it didn't work for obvious reasons but that was the best I could come up with.

hold the two windows keys for 5 seconds will reset the board.. might help

A better bet tu just leave it that way or buy another keyboard.

i think it only works with blue leds coz there is a blue led version of the full size one

could you show me how to solve a problem im facing , i recently bought this keyboard about a month or so and my fingers are inlove with the keys and somehow , when i hit Enter it automatically hits capslock , and types SHFK, and i cant also use my backspace , because it also types in some random numbers like /31241 or something like that . it really annoys me pls help me pls im in despair

Does your warranty still last if you open it up but don’t modify anything?

My understanding is no. By opening it you void the warranty. Lots of electronics have this on them (like a Playstation for example). A lot of repair activists are moaning about this a lot because its obviously very anti consumer.

So my D switch got messed up. Can I replace it with another switch anywhere on the keyboard?

Do you mean like it doesnt work 100%? because i have that problem with my W and D switches. they work fine if i press them *straight* down but if there is any sideways movement it will give plank and my character stops moving. Did you try replacing it with another switch and did it work?
