Nataanii Means

8 жыл бұрын

In today's society we're quick to use the word 'Warrior', but in a lot of Indigenous People's language across Turtle Island, that word is translated into many different definitions. In this video I chose to travel the country to different events and locations to depict our modern day warriors, in everything they do, because all of us are fighting to survive in one way or another. Which brings it back to why in our languages, the definition isn't limited to one.
Directed & Edited by Nataanii Means
Director of Photography- Terrance Clifford
Co-Director of Photography- Angel Mills
Shot at various locations over the course of one year.

Tlacatecolotl as a South American I know where the Spaniards get the race red from. It’s because the Amazonian Amerindians covered themselves in achiote. Some natives covered only some parts with Annatto also known as achiote and others only their hair and others did the whole body. In Ecuador the term red race is still used. I don’t know other places. Achiote is a Nahuatl word, so I’m guessing southern Mexicans used it on their bodies too not anymore but maybe they used to. I don’t know why it’s applied to natives in USA because they don’t use achiote but prolly because we look the same racially, dark skinned with asiatic eyes. I dunno but we South Americans have that term red race too but only used by government and school history books at least in Ecuador yeah and most definitely Brazil where the red paste covered indigenous mostly live. Here so you can see how red they are kzfaq.info/get/bejne/psx3a8qgxrSal3U.html it’s a horror movie but they do cover themselves red like that.

Much love and respect from Greece 🌿🇬🇷 A positive aspect about the Internet is that you can reach people all over the world, and via creative ways (like this song) make us aware of what your People are going through and their reality/daily lives, so hopefully we can somehow, someway contribute to make a positive change. Thank you for the lyrics and the video, I learned a lot I didn't know(also thank you youtube for putting this in the suggestions). Please continue with the music, it means a lot to the world.

I love it! As a white boy (actually native Italian from Sicily) I've always had a connection with native American. I went to school with them here, with many tribes. I found that even they didn't always like each other even though native, yet different tribes. I have been good friends with Tohono O'odham, Pima, yaqui, lokato (I was married to a direct descendant to Chief Redcloud. And I've found all these people were human beings that I could bond and connect with. point being, all people can get along. just depends on the spirit that guides you. My guide taught me to love all people, especially natives. And all of you, no matter which tribe, I love you all. Deep down you are all my brothers, my sister's and I love and appreciate you all. From the white guy Italian scicilan to yours. peace be to you and to yours and may the great spirit bless you all.

Its 2020 and that last message about police brutality was just more fuel on the fire and its just as true today as back when your video first posted... thank you for posting. RIP Allen Locke.
