When the press asked Aretha what she remembered most about this tribute to her, she said Natalie’s performance of “Call Me” because it reminded her of her sister Carolyn. Carolyn wrote that song for her. Natalie sung her heart out with total sincerity and heart. You could feel the love. There is no auto tune!!! She and Aretha been ended that bad press from the past pitting them against each other. In fact, Aretha and Natalie were planning to duet but both got ill and transition before it happened. She also mentioned the duet she and Smokey did during the tribute... I know they are both up in heaven singing daily around the Masters throne!! Rest In Power Queens. Your voices are truly missed down here on Earth!

Are you sure she wasnt talking about Ruben Studdard's tribute because he sang Angel and Carolyn wrote that song. Aretha penned this one herself.

As heart warming as that sounds, and wonderful comment, really. But Aretha wrote Call Me when she was in the park and saw a couple conversing. When the girl said, 'Call me when you get home" Aretha got the idea for the song.

Nobody goes to heaven, man. When you die, that's it. Many people do not want to accept it, but that is the way it is. It is called the cycle of life. Natalie was a hell of a singer. I like her duet with her father in Unforgettable. They are both unforgettable.
@comeagyn Жыл бұрын
@Spanish lessons YOU NEVER BEEN 9 DEEP IN HEAVEN ?! 🤣😂 seriously heaven or hell is a state of mind. No more or less. I'm with you it's not a physical location to go to. "My father's house has many mansion" aka the body (temple of life) has many estates to reside in. It's up to us which one we pick. That's what most theology and psychology is trying to express. You pick your state of being. But most ppl are tossed back and forth by circumstances and emotions and end up in mental/emotional hell because they aren't "The master of their vessel" or they aren't their own savior. Truth sets free and truth is WE ARE WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR but science religion and the world got us looking in the sky in a book or in between legs searching for a state of being we can willingly achieve independent of money man sky daddies etc.

Aretha's greatness was born out of her refusal to deviate from her roots and essence of who she was; a gospel singer. I've listened to this magnitude talent all of my life and I've never heard Aretha sing any song that did not reflect her gospel roots, including the song she's performing here. Lastly, her father played a vital role in shaping her destiny. If you tell a child something long and often enough, they come to believe it. Reverend CL Franklin would tell his daughter when she was still quite young, that she would one day sing before kings, queens and presidents and she has. Rest on eternal peace queen.
