Melanie is just the sweetest person. I was a flight attendant taking her back from New Zealand to Los Angeles and she had her birthday during the flight. The crew put together a happy birthday card for her and we presented it to her just before descending into LA. She was so moved and really appreciative . She made sure she spoke with every flight attendant, and thanked them for their kindness. Just a really lovely and down to earth person who deserves all the success in the world.

they genuinely have the best back and forth and it’s such a testament to their friendship. but seriously they had some really insightful conversations and as a lesbian i very much agree with what natasha was saying. i think lesbian cinema as well as being important for lesbians and for visibility, is such a unique opportunity to move away from centring men and having no excuse but to flesh out the non men in a way that is authentic to the complexities of everyday people. also just hearing both melanie and natasha who are undeniably brilliant in their craft, speak about how difficult it was for them in the past to get roles vs the opportunities they have now is so indicative of how we are now valuing telling a wide spectrum of stories that reflect life as opposed to a very white, male centric view of the world where the entertainment of one group was prioritised over the visibility of others. so great to see them having so much success!

If only we could have all 3 of them in Poker Face, or another series. One of the reasons I like Natasha is because she's not afraid to embrace the more masculine parts of her personality. As a woman that's something that can be frowned on or people jump to conclusions about, and she doesn't let that stop her from being herself.
@mydogeatspuke
@mydogeatspuke 11 ай бұрын
But it's not any more frowned upon than overt femininity. It's just frowned at by different people. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, there will always be people passing judgement, and it's almost always about things that aren't even real and only exist in their own heads. That's part of the experience. For some reason, a lot of people have been lied to since they were very young, about all kinds of things that are expected of them or that others are passing judgement on, and it's just not true. The vast majority of people genuinely could not care less about you, or me, or anyone outside of their circle. The more this wild myth is repeated, the more people inexplicably believe it. It's human nature to judge, it isn't about your gender or presentation or pronouns or whatever. In fact none of the things people assume about you have anything at all to do with you.
@theCynicalChicken
@theCynicalChicken 11 ай бұрын
@@mydogeatspuke Respectfully, masculinity in women has been much more frowned upon than feminity in women. It's a very real lived experience for many women. Some people definitely notice and can be very unkind, to the point of violence.
@mydogeatspuke

@@theCynicalChicken but it hasn't. You just perceive it that way because of your own biases. I never said it wasn't a lived experience for some women. Love themmmmm both. Natasha has this natural, incredibly nuanced comedic wit, it just makes her magnetic. I find myself listening carefully, sifting through sarcasm and humor for nuggets of true insight and genius.
