Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!

Hi nate, you can also use "Estoy avergonzado" that's a closer way. But the ones you mentioned also work. Keep up the good work 👌🏻👌🏻

ive done some research on this EMBARAZADO meaning, La RAE says 2. adj. Cohibido o incómodo para actuar con naturalidad. and oxford dictionary says adjetivo [persona] Que está incómodo en cierta situación, normalmente por sentirse cohibido o avergonzado. "se sentía embarazado y no se atrevía a mirarla" BUT over the years its use for the meaning has essentially died down, technically you can say it but like Nate says you will get looked at funny

Hola! Creo que es una expresión que se usaba hace mucho tiempo en España, actualmente nadie usa esa palabra así. En Mèxico decimos: ¡que pena!, ¡que vergüenza! O: me da pena o me da vergüenza. En España no usan la palabra "pena" como sinónimo de vergüenza, para los españoles, decir "que pena" es igual a decir "que lástima" o que tristeza.

Despite understanding quite a lot of Spanish at this point i feel like i can't even make anything more than basic sentences without using Google Translate to help with grammar. Verbs and tenses are just too hard to remember and use on my own even though i understand others

Todo es cuestión de la práctica. Podrías empezar escribiendo un diario simple, así aprenderás cómo hablar de tu vida y las cosas cotidianas (normales) que haces cada día. Lo que me servía bastante bien cuando empecé a aprender era escribir oraciones sencillas (lo mejor que podía), y luego repasarlas y corregirlas con un traductor.

how do you know whether to use estar or tener
@SpanishWithNate.
@SpanishWithNate. Жыл бұрын
Good question! It all depends on context. Estar means "to be" where "tener" means "to have" In the case of age however, we use tener instead of estar.
@gatosospechosop3
@gatosospechosop3 Жыл бұрын
It’s case by case, I would suggest simply learning phrases that use in your day-to-day, and memorizing them as is, rather than trying to come up with some kind of rule or trick. “Estar” is used in a ton of expressions: -estar cansado (to be tired) -estar harto (to be fed up) -estar feliz (to be happy) Likewise with “tener”, you just have to remember which to use with which expression: tener hambre/sed (to be hungry/thirsty) tener __ años (to be ___ years old) tener calor/frío (to be hot or cold) Best of luck with your studying! You got this!

Estoy súper cachondo means, «I want a Tequilla Sunrise». Say it to your local bartender. Quiero que me toques el rabo means, «I want you to tell me another funny story». Say it to all your friends. Me voy a casa con mis tres amigos y me mojé. This is a joke about the weather in Spanish. Natives of Spain love it! They'll laugh so hard. Okay, that was an unworthy contribution so, I'll add this: I was getting pissed because I couldn't figure out how I didn't have a verb for «to research». Revisar. NO. And then, it hit me and I'm like, no way but, like the Mexicans say, "Si whey. ¡Qué pedo!¨Which means in Mexican, it was simply that obvious! Rebuscar. The verb for re-search is rebuscar. Wow. Like they said in Mexico, «Never give up!» which is «me cago en tus muertos».
