What is going on my mates
Today we're going to talk a band called Title Fight. Title Fight is an extremely special band to me which is why I titled this video 'what makes title fight so special. Anyway, Title Fight is a band that plays a lot of genres, because they switch it up a little bit with each release. Over the years they've played punk, pop punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, emo, shoegaze, grunge, alternative rock, you name it.
In total they have released three studio albums: Shed, Floral Green, and Hyperview. Ned Russin, Jamie Rhoden, Shane Moran, and Ben Russin always have their heads towards the sky, looking to improve, progress, and improve themselves as musicians.
I'm not sure what the future of Title Fight is, but one thing's for sure, they'll always have an active, diehard fanbase whether they're together or not.
Title Fight forever.
Best,
Nate
And now.. it's time for the feature presentation you've been waiting for: What Makes Title Fight So Special?

I found Title Fight a year and a half ago and it literally saved my life. I was drinking very heavily one night listening to music and tying a noose to hang myself. I listened to shed and was so moved that I didn't want to give up. I smoked the last of the weed I had and drank several more beers and passed out with The Last Thing You Forget and Shed on constant repeat sitting in the woods. I love Title Fight and I hope the boys are doing good. I thank you for what you did for me even tho it wasn't your entire intention to make music for those reasons. A year and a half later I still love this band and I hope it helps people they way it helped me to not feel so alone. Even today I struggle with wanting to end my life but I fight for another breath not knowing if I'll wake up tmrw or if I'll end it tonight. To anyone who may read this and be feeling the same way just know you are loved, if not by anyone you know then atleast know you are loved by me and know that no matter what, you are struggling because you are a good hearted and caring person.

Hyperview came out when I was 21 and I didn't get it at the time. Now that I'm older it makes more sense, it has aged well. I think it's a masterpiece.
@shnorglebop1798
@shnorglebop1798 6 ай бұрын
I’m 21 now, I got into Title Fight in my senior year of high school. That was a little over 3 years ago now, I was like 18. I ended up learning about them after getting into a band called Remo Drive, and their earlier material was really influenced by Title Fight. I thought it was amazing, and after checking out Title Fight themselves, I was simply blown away. I never listened to something that felt so perfect. I was going through a lot at the time and I feel like I really did discover them at a time where I needed it. Their lyrics and sound really resonated with me in this way I couldn’t describe, and they continue to even today. I think the first song I ever heard by them was Head In The Ceiling Fan, and it just drew me in right away. They have quickly become one of if not my favorite band of all time next to the Beatles lol. I know this isn’t really relative to your comment but I just wanted to share, been listening to TF a ton lately and nobody I know is really into them the way I am so I got nobody to rant about them to lol. To add to what you were saying tho: I felt the same way about Hyperview when I first got into them. It was good, but I wasn’t crazy about it the way I was with their other stuff… I think I appreciate it a lot more now. I know a lot of people seem to see it as a departure from their usual sound, which it was, a lot less aggressive. But to me something about it seems very similar. Listening to Floral Green a lot (that’s probably my personal favorite) I honestly felt like Hyperview was a pretty natural progression. I could hear it a lot on HITCF and In-Between. Anyway that’s just my 2 cents lol. I’d be really interested to hear where they would take things if they ever got back together. They were really perfecting their “vibe” you might say. If you’re interested, there’s another really good band you should check out called Drug Church from upstate NY.

@@shnorglebop1798 Great comment, I agree with everything you said. FWIW I'm 30 now, I still enjoy TF's older material but it was more relevant to me at the age you are now. Feeling angst, not fitting in, figuring out life as a young man in a world that seemed infinite. Like the line in Sympathy, "I never wanted sympathy Just wanted to be something I just wanna be interesting." Hope you find your own path someday that makes sense for you. Also listen to Glitterer if you aren't already!

Floral Green will always be a favourite because 'Like A Ritual' really entered my life at a time I needed it. That being said, Hyperview was an incredibly made album which clearly takes influence from a whole array of other genres and executes it flawlessly. It really felt inspired by The Smiths and other bands from that era whilst maintaining the melancholic sound of today. I can't say there has been a track by them that I haven't liked and they continue to be my favourite artists across all the genres of music that I listen to!

I really enjoy(ed) title fights presence. They’re everything of musicians/a band that I aspire to be. They constantly change and evolve. That nostalgic sort of sound and confidence in self and their work is the most inspiring thing to me and the most relatable thing to me. I constantly feel change and revolution in what I work on as far as art, myself. I like that feeling and I like listening and learning about ppl who do the same. It’s good to not be tied down to one genre or sub genre of music bc you learn the most about doing what you love while also sort of learning how to be the best at your passion. Awesome stuff man.

So I moved to Kingston PA in 2007 and discovered them after hearing Memorial Field off of Kingston 7" on Myspace. This was before I was ever involved in the music scene and I was so enamored by them that I took up making my own music a couple years later. Title Fight may not be my favorite band anymore, but they for sure are my most influential. It's crazy how much of an impact that Title Fight inadvertently had on my life as a whole, I can't imagine what kind of person I'd be if I never moved to Kingston, discovered them, started writing my own music, getting involved in the music scene, making the friends that I did, discovering the bands that I did, going the places I did... All stemming from one band. Jamie, Shane, Ned, Ben, if you ever read this I'm super thankful for you guys, and I miss the days when we would play baseball and ultimate frisbee on 3rd St! thank you for making this video, im passionate cult follower of title fight lol and this was spot on. im a nerd for them and i will say musically title fight stands out completely and hyperview imo was them peaking as creative musicians. the depth to that album when listened to from a musician perspective reminds you that the simplicity and emptiness to a record is powerful. the strength of good sounding guitars/bass/drums, consistent sound and incredibly fine tuned production work is what they really honed in on for hyperview. the lack of genre/style layers compared to spring songs or floral green is in my opinion more enticing and very difficult to pull off musically

I was at that show in the first segment. It was an after show for Wrecking Ball in Atlanta and it was just Title Fight and Foundation. Crazy to think that was the last time I saw them.

3:50 "Breathtaking, original pieces of band merchandise I've ever seen". I think that Floral Green shirt with the quotation marks is a nod to the rare Sonic Youth 'Sister' shirt.

I have always listened to TF on streaming services on my phone, never seen an album cover up close. The way the service clips the album art and shrinks it, I didn't realize the detail of the painting. I thought the "Shed" cover was a photograph, especially because most of the bottom was cropped out

I feel like my reflection as a punk rock parent is solidified by one of my child’s major initial influences being Title Fight. Took him to see them in Chicago, where Ned proposed to his gf. I discovered 10 months later that I had brain cancer. That trip from St. Louis and back yielded a lot of indications of my cancer. But I’m so happy we had this experience ❤️

The first time I heard this band was in a video of a marine getting shot in the neck. Head in the ceiling fan was playing and you hear the mans voice when the blood starts running. It was a chilling video and the song still holds that feeling...
