Like somebody believes ki God is formless!(like Raja Rammohan Roy).....somebody believes God has a certain form!(like Ramkrishna Paramhans who use to worshipped Maa Bhabatarini, though he also believed ki "God is present everywhere but His manifestation is greatest in human beings, so serve human as God and remove the division of mind." )...... And there are so many different religious people who thought ki God has a certain form!(that's why in ancient Greek they use to worshipped Hephaestus as the God of fire)......and in the Muslim community they thought ki God is formless!....... And now I am coming to your question "is it idol or image?"......I think it's both and we try to feel the existence of supreme soul on it though her/his existence is everywhere!......and I also think ki Image or Idol it's doesn't matter because "किसी को पत्थर मैं भी शिव दिखाई देती है,और किसी को शिव लिंग मैं केबल पत्थर ही दिखाई देती है!".....So the concept of God is completely on you..... And we also have to respect everyones Notion about the God🙏

I am from Assam and an Atheist but managed to stay in Kolkata during the Pujo's. My mind was blown away just to see so much positive energy and happiness. The crowds were insane and we had to wait for like an hour or two during Panchami to watch a Pandal but it was all worth it. Best Durga Puja Memories will always be watching it at Kolkata. Much love to this awesome city ❤

The last day is Dashami, which is the most sad and emotional part of this festival... On this day.. we immerse the idol of Maa Durga in the river.. and seek her blessings... I am crying. This is such a beautiful documentary. My Bengali heart is filled with so many emotions which I can't describe. I haven't lived in Kolkata more than 4 years of college, I grew up outside Bengal, but this city has opened its heart to me and become a part of me over those years, and I haven't been to the city in a year and I can't wait walk the streets of the city of joy soon. কলকাতা ছেড়ে যাওয়া, কলকাতা তোমাকে ছেড়ে যেতে পারে না, I will be going in December although I couldn't be there for any Pujo this year, and wouldn't probably be for many Pujos to come. This video feels home but still different, like I am watching a random cultural video on Nat Geo or HBO, like I used to, of cities in Japan, Europe and various other countries, the feel is exactly the same, except that I know the streets, know the places, know every food items, I know every cultural significance, I know everything that's happening and feeling is joyful yet weird. I love this so much. What the five days (the actual Puja is only five days long, from Kalparambha to Bishorjon, and not 10 as the video kept saying, the pre-Pujo celebrations can be a month long though) of Pujo is to Bengali, can only be experienced and not expressed. Pujo bolte Durga Pujo i, aar kono Pujo nei.

Kolkata Durgapuja is very beautiful. I am from Odisha,neighbour state of Kolkata, also a state full of cultural diversity. Just after durgapuja we celebrate BALI YATRA here. A very bravery & struggle full life of Paika pua(sailers) to trade with Barli in Indonesia, Java, Sumatra . With a millions of people come Cuttack Mahanadi river bank to celebrate this festival. This is a seven day festival and you all are invited from 25th November.

যেখানে বাঙালী সেখানেই দূর্গা পূজা... কলকাতার দূর্গা পূজা অনেক বড় করে হলেও পূজো সবজায়গা তেই হয়.. বাঙালী হিসেবে একবার হলেও কলকাতায় পূজো কাটানোর ইচ্ছে আছে..আমি ত্রিপুরা থেকে.. এখানে ও খুব ঘটা করে পূজো হয়...ত্রিপুরার আগরতলা,ধর্মনগর,কুমারঘাট ইত্যাদি জায়গার জাকজমক করে পূজো হয়..

Durga Puja is a Bengali festival while Navratri is an all India religious event. There is a humongous difference in how it is celebrated in Bengal vs How other communities celebrate it. And just because Durga Puja won the UNESCO tag and is promoted by foreigners instead of people of India, people like you just flock for credits

Do you even know what "Navaratri" means ? 9 day worship of Maa Durga celebrating the 9 day war between Maa & Mahishasur . Maa isn't bound with small boundaries of "Bengal" or "North" or "South" . She is our Maa , everyone's Maa . & If you ask why we eat Tamsik(Meat) & North Indians eat Satvik food , I must tell you it's only because of we are Tantrik>Bamachari & they are Vedic>Yajnik

After watching Holi, Eid, Onam and Hornbill episodes, I was waiting for this! Though Garry's energy and enthusiasm is limitless and sometimes contagious, I think Durga Puja is could be covered more broadly, as he did for Onam. Instead of limiting to just a few places in Kolkata, you'd better go for many more places in the state, representing the relationship between the people and the serene beauty of Bengal and its unique culture as well, like you covered Onam. Not only Bengali's but Durga Pujo is also celebrated across the state of Odisha with a huge majestic pandals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. We Odias share the same emotions of glorious Puja as like Bengalis. However Kolkata no doubt is the best in Durga Puja pandals architecture and majestic structures. PS: West Bengal and Odisha shows way much similarity in terms of language, culture and tradition.

I think this is one of the best documentaries made on Durga Pujo in Kolkata. Gary never looked out of place. It is like the city with its cultural outpouring threw curve balls at him, and he hit each one of them out of park. Every bit of it looked regal. Thank you for making this.

It's so lovely to see Gary partake in the spirit of the Puja so wholeheartedly. These few days are the best days of the year for any Bangali and it is great to see it appreciated like this by someone who was introduced to it for the first time!

It's our Indian culture. We're most diverse in cultures, languages, races, castes and religions. This is culture that bonds us together, it makes us happy, it keeps un undivided despite of diversity. Other than India, most countries which lacks culture, suffering from loneliness and dipression.

Durga puja is all over India, not synonymous to the culturally rich Bengal alone, Punjabi and gujratis call it navratri . Gujrat risk have a festival and dance nights during this time that again is all over India

NAT GEO has brilliantly captured the essence and flavour of Durga Puja. But like I say to everyone, Durga Puja is something that has to be experienced in person, because it truly is a mega festival, the scale of which is not seen anywhere else!
