@@tjplaine I've been thinking about this for a bit, and yeah I've landed on the side of 'it was intentional', because Oprah was just a few seasons off from being one of those dime-a-dozen, salacious daytime talk shows. But even though she did a master class in how to separate yourself from the pack, it was still a product of it's time, when it was still dangerous for your career to come out. It lost Ellen a TV show. Nathan found his brave eventually .. on his own time. She shouldn't have tried to include herself in that decision.

@@AnaisWolf correct me if I’m wrong, but hadn’t he also had open heart surgery at some point towards the end of his years? I only remember this because after he’d died, a friend of mine was discussing that fact, and that for a LOT of people (but men in particular) having open heart surgery sends them into an extremely bad depression. Has something to do with the vulnerability of someone literally having your heart in their hands, I suppose. Either way, Robin was a bright flame in a dark storm. The world was a better place with him in it.

Nathan I'm happy for you. I'm happy you had this moment to appreciate Robin then, and happy you have the confidence and ability to be who you are now.

First, the birdcage is a brilliant film, it is everything, and secondly, he is talking about 1996, not 1950, we have come very far as a society and we must stop and appreciate how free our society is now. We are not a bigoted society, we are a society that ends bigotry, be very proud. Also, Nathan Lane is hilarious 😂

A true friend to have his back. I love that beautiful movie about a couple dealing with their child getting married. I always smile when I watch it.
