This is great! This explains a lot of stuff I picked up over the years from miscelaneous people and even some stuff I played by ear without really knowing why it works.

you make a good point about preparing some comping patterns. I always have trouble doing it on the fly. how many versus should i pre-work out ahead of time in terms of voice leading patterns ?

At 6:45 I will suggest an alternate fingering solution for the last "2" chords of your Excellent Progression - Eb13 - ⑤ Eb - ④ X - ③ Db - ② G - ① C - Bbmaj9/D - ⑤ D - ④ X - ③ C - ② F - ① Bb - Thank you for your consideration!

1:45: it means you have to know all your inversions up and down the neck. So it’s conceptually simple: just play F7. But getting adequately interesting motion? Not easy at all

So how do I comp on 5th chord
@NathanBortonMusic
@NathanBortonMusic 10 ай бұрын
Do you mean the Bb7? Or the F7? If it's the Bb7, no tricks just play Bb7 going to Ebmaj7. If you mean F7, then as it says in the lesson, you could play C-7 or F7 or Bmaj7 to lead us back to Bbmaj7.
