"Deșteaptă-te, române!" (variously translated as "Awake the, Romanian!", "Awaken, Romanian!", or "Wake up, the Romanians!") is the national anthem of Romania.
The lyrics were composed by Andrei Mureșanu (1816-1863) and the music was popular (it was chosen for the poem by Gheorghe Ucenescu, as most sources say).[1] It was written and published during the 1848 revolution, initially with the name "Un răsunet" (English: "An echo"). It was first sung in late June in the same year in the city of Brașov, on the streets of Șchei quarter.[2] It was immediately accepted as the revolutionary anthem and renamed "Deșteaptă-te, române!"
Since then, this song, which contains a message of liberty and patriotism, has been sung during all major Romanian conflicts, including during the 1989 anti-communist revolution. After that revolution, it became the national anthem, replacing the communist-era national anthem "Trei culori" (English: "Three colors").

There are a lot of people who like it and I respect the people who don't like it aswell but it's a personal opinion that should be kept for yourself. I bet more than 80% of Romanians do like it and that's the most important thing. Plus, I don't think you are a Romanian and our anthem does not affect you in any way. If you don't like it just don't listen to it. No one forces you to like our anthem or to listen to it.

You talk a lot of funny things. Because Romanians were not allowed to live in towns after 1439 UTN. Mathias Corvinus talked the most about HIS Vlach and Roman origin through his Vlach father, Johannes Olahus, John the Vlach, aka John Hunyad after 1441, when he had to change name in order to be named governor of Transylvania, and to keep his vast estates as former Romanian noble family. Read history, don't talk ridiculous things.

@@barni.815 He was not a Ianosh but a Ioanes, diminutived Iancu. Ioan / John the Vlach or the Getae. As an ethnic Vlach/Romanian he was governor of Transylvania and the regent of the kingdom of Hungary. His son Matteiash was a king of Hungary. It matters because they ruled over Transylvanian Romanians too.

In Albania some people speak the romanian language ( yes , speak ) . Romanian!!!!! Look on Wikipedia, if you don't trust me. This means that Romanians ( Vlachs ) settled from Albania to Romania in the 15.th century or 14th . Romanians are not Dacians or Romans. They are some kind of albans. Second: Hunyadi Mátyás(Mathias Corvinus) was born in Cluj in 1456 ( I think ) How should he or anyone else be Romanian ???? Look on Wikipedia: until 1945 almost everyone in Cluj was Hungarian. Hungarian!!!!!.

lol So the Romanians, attested as former Romans since 7-8 century onward from the Bug river to Pannonia and Moravia and from the north Carpathians to the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas, as Roman shepherds and Vlachs, forgot 98% of Albanian language??, a little nation no one heard about before 11 century?, speaking a language unrelated to any except that is Indo European? Albanians have nothing to do with the Romanians or the Balkans, before 11 century Norman invasion, when they were planted there from Sicily and North Africa, most probably former Vandals, except the fact that they built a nation on the indigenous attested Vlach population and land, attested all over the Balkans and above the Danube, not only there, and inherited 100+ pastoral words from the Vlachs. Vlachs are also attested by many historical sources as Dacians and the only related population in Balkans are the Aromanians, the former Thracians and Illyrians, all 7-800 years ROMANIZED!
