The history of Chinese jade making is very long. As early as 8000 years ago, ancestors gradually came to know the beautiful stone of jade in the process of grinding stone tools. Since then, they dissected the uncut pieces of jade, cut the jade into a tool, and created a unique art of jade.
In the pre-Qin period, jade not only had aesthetic value, symbolized wealth and power, but was also used as a spiritual object to communicate between heaven and man. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was an important carrier of "rites", and even became a moral sentiment due to its warm, moist and lustrous characteristics. The sustenance. After the Qin and Han dynasties, the jade gradually faded from its dazzling halo, but it still carried people's good wishes for peace and prosperity. Chinese ancient jade art not only contains national psychology, consciousness and taste, but also an important part of Chinese ancient culture and art.
In 2010, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage transferred 390,000 cultural relics from the China Cultural Relics Information Consultation Center to the National Museum of China. Among them, there are more than 80,000 ancient Chinese jade artifacts. In this "Ancient Chinese Jade Art" exhibition, 300 pieces (groups) of representative jade from the ancient to the Qing dynasty were selected, and some old collections that were rarely exhibited in the past were added.
Kang Youwei said: "The preservation of antiquities can make the country more civilized; the preservation of antiquities can help the people respect the people and the people; the preservation of antiquities can make the people feel happy." The museum hopes that viewers can learn more about the history and culture of ancient jade through this exhibition. Artistic value, taste the national spirit contained in it, and give birth to a sense of responsibility to protect and inherit excellent culture.
