Todd, how about the slipper spring setups? Surely they are better than the leaf spring setup.

Hi Todd. Great content as always. Although I agree that a certain amount of Lithium Batteries in newer rigs makes sense, I have a few specific constraints to deal with before really considering. This may be useful to others here in a similar situation near larger cities.. 1) I am in a winter climate (Ottawa, Ontario Canada). Currently with 1 lead acid battery I simply remove it and put it on a trickle charger for the winter in my heated and insulated 2 car garage. 2) I store my RV at a private storage outdoor facility with no access to electrical service whatsoever. There is no place to even park the RV near my home - even temporarily - no parking on street and lot sizes are barely 35 ft wide including the driveway. 3) We sometimes, not so much this year, get substantial amounts of snow that would cover up any solar panels. 4) My new Brinkley Z2900 comes with one 370 watts solar panel, is inverter prepped. Let's say I buy 2 - 200 Amp hr Lithium batteries. What do I do with them in the winter time? Leave them in the RV? Won't they get damaged at -30 F without electricity to keep them warm. Do I bring them home? Do trickle chargers even exist for lithium. Thanks. Always look forward to your Tuesday content. Richard PS I have visited Texas twice but moving is not an option. Yet! :)

I can run all 3 ac's on a 30amp service as long as the pedestal is shaded. Do i still need easy starts?

Hey Todd, Thanks again as always for the great content. I love these tech tips. I do have a question though. You mentioned changing from Leaf spring to independent suspension for the ride quality as an upgrade and I hear that a lot. There are also those who recommend upgrading just shackles, but do you any upgrade or maintenance tips for Torsion axles? I never anyone talk about them, is that because they are a better system then leaf springs or is just because there are less issues? Thanks Again.

I see a lot of soft start competitors on Amazon. Will they work as effectively? Soft start seem awfully expensive

Todd great videos you are the best. Question? I see you recommend a "Soft Start" as an important upgrade. What do you think about the portable "Soft Starts" that you plug into the rv parks pedestal? I rather have a portable that will work for both A/C or anything else that has a high draw when turned on. Any big difference between hardwired to A/C vs plug in one?

If you had to choose between sumo springs or koni shocks to take some of the bone jarring jolt from rough roads on a class a gas motorhome, which would help the most?

Todd, I really enjoy your videos. We recently purchased a new 2023 Newmar Bay Star 37 foot gas motor home. Do you think the suspension can significantly be upgraded using different components (springs, shocks, sway bars, steering enhancements, etc.) to greatly improve the ride / handling or should we just completely bite the bullet and go straight to a four corner Liquid Spring system with a Super Steer steering stabilizer? Thanks in advance for your reply,

Good morning. We have a 2025 Baystar 3016 on order for July delivery. We bit the bullet. I. have an October appointment for LS install. Expensive but I think worth it.

Great video Todd. Im also doing the correspondence course. I'm currently researching 12v fridge or a residential fridge for the motorhome. As you mentioned people are having issues with burned out 12v compresssors. You think that is less an issue with my lithiums? We still enjoy boondocking about a week at a time a few times a year. But im struggling with residential versus 12v. Thoughts?

Not quite forever, but 2-3 times longer. All they are is a capacitor and a relay, I've got to do some digging because I need to put one on my new one.

Hey Todd love the tech tips I have 2 questions I’d like to ask you. You talked about suspension upgrades I upgraded to the lippert center point air ride have you had any experience with these and what’s your opinion on them. Also if I change over to lithium batteries I have a 2022 jayco eagle and the converter has a switch for lead acid battery or lithium batteries will that be good enough to charge lithium batteries? Thank you

Thank you for the kind words. Yes if your converter has a switch to charge lithium then you are set. All you need are a couple of the best lithium batteries in the RV market…Big Beard Batteries.

Thank you for the info, I really enjoy watching your tech tips I have learned a lot and I have helped friends learn things about there rv they didn’t know. I would really like to buy the big beard batteries but I don’t think my wife would let me spend the money for them. She calls it the money pit because I’ve been upgrading a lot

Why don’t RV AC manufacturers include easy starts as part of the AC units, or is that too much to ask?

They are beginning to offer their own....at a much higher price. and they will void the warranty if you put on a different brand. currently.

I bought a trailer with 2 6v lead-acid batteries and I was thinking about adding a 200ah lithium battery that I already had. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? (combining the two)
@windrider65
@windrider65 2 ай бұрын
A good rule of thumb, never mix battery types. They charge and discharge at different rates and you will have all kinds of problems. It can even cause batteries to overheat and explode, and that's a problem you want to avoid. I'm not an RV technician, but I've got an electrical background.
