I made this video of the Shoshone tribe whom were located in the territory in California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming, although most of them seemed to be settled in the Snake river area in Idaho, Shoshone means The Valley People The name means inland, or in the valley.
In 1905, nearly one hundred years after their first contact with the white man, the Lemhi Shoshone began their "Trail of Tears", being forcibly removed from their ancestral homelands to the Fort Hall Indian Reservation to their newly "appointed" home. The Shoshone were few in numbers, their total population being somewhere in the area of 8000. most of my other videos have pictures but also film through the videos.

There's two things that come to mind when I listen to this kind of music. 1. What these people may have been able to contribute further to this world had they been given the chance. 2. The anger I feel towards the people (my own people) for nearly wiping out these beautiful people.

Me too. I wish i can go back in time and stop the racism wars from happening. Make it to were we all are at pice. Today its a little better than before, but we still need to do something to help the Native Americans and stop all the bad racist and evil people who are still backwards. I wish the Government will allow them their land back and give them good homes and fresh food to eat. Life is short, so we need to focus on living the best life as much as we can.

I understand you do not have to be Native to enjoy the songs. I guess what I should be saying is that I come from no Native background, so I feel rather humble to be listening to this piece, especially since maybe some would say that I don't have a TRUE emotional connection to the music, because I don't have it in my blood. My Ancestor's lived in Idaho around the Snake River close to the Shoshone falls. I am Redcloud 7th generation Native American and I'm happy to know this. The children of Manasseh or Native Americans had a way of living that I know would bring so much joy to my soul. Love, Honor, respect a connection with the heavens and mother earth. They knew that the land didn't belong to them it was there mother and was sanctified for the next generation.

I thank you for this video and music. The Shoshone tribes are folks I have always been interested in. I have heard them being called the tall people and the beautiful people. Hi .. I belong to the Khasi tribe from Shillong, Meghalaya, in the North Eastern part of India. And when I see this video, and listening to the Native American music, It reminds me of my own tribe and our culture. How the white men had taken away our culture and now we are fighting the further loss of our culture and heritege from globalisation. Despite the fact that we are more than thousand of miles apart, in two different continents, in two different countries, there is some kind of similarities between the tribes of North East India and the Native American tribes I find a kind of a spirtual connection between my tribe and the native americans through this video. And if I may add. I can understand the feeling of being different and unique of the Native Americans from the other races/ people in the American continent. We too have the same feelings as we too are different in terms of culture, history, and language from that of our mainland Indian counterparts. I can only say "KHUBLEI" (Thank You) in Khasi to to the one who is responsible in making this video. From your spirit brother in India.

Shoshone- "Grass House People"..... Thanks for sharing that information regarding over 800 hundred million Native Americans resided in North American...a taken land. Was your point a positive point? Or that of a negative nature or perhaps that of a educational nature? I ask this as A person of Native American decent who knows a great deal about the hurt that Native American's have suffered. Knowing that we had our land stolen from us. Knowing also that is something that happened in the past. Yes it angers me and to see how badly our land is disrespected as well. I also try to focus on the positive that I can do to try to leave the sad horrible past exactly there where it belongs in the past and be present in the present and try to work towards a better future as many of us do. As I often point out not all of us are on reservations and I hope are trying to focus on the positive That we are not all wiped out and that as long as we have hope as well as faith and try to teach others to respect our land that is the best thing. Positive thoughts not negativity. Happy Monday to all. Have the best possible day that you can. Peace and be well.

I'm sorry, but how did 80 million North American natives turn into "800 hundred million [sic]"?! The entire planet at the time barely had 700 million people (pegged between 600 million and 680 million for the 1700s, in fact). Is this "multiply the number by 10 for exaggerated effect" thing ever going to end? Please, stop killing the truth in order to make a more grand statement. The claim that the white people just came and immediately killed off the entire continent is itself misguided and erroneous, and even then, not all of the ~80 million Native Americans who lived in the modern day United States (thought to be no more than ~110-150 million for the entire continent of North America) were killed.

+Sonny Forelli An excuse for what? I think you're confusing two things. There is one thing to be proud of culture. Then there's thinking that you and your culture are above/is better than someone else's - in which case it's bullshit. Also..... keep in mind that Native Americans (First nations people) do not have your same history and don't have the same relationship with (let's say...) the United States like other social groups. So, don't try and speak for them as it is not your place.

According to the 1863 treaty , the Shoshone own the Oregon land that is now under siege by the militias, Why isnt anyone speaking about this. Its all over the news but nobody is mentioning the fact that the land was stolen by the Shoshones who have been fighting the government for years.

You mean the Wildlife Reserve? I don’t think the militias had any interest in taking the Shoshone’s land. They just wanted the building to protest the government.

I'm not sure where I fall... I'm Shoshone and Portuguese on my moms side and mostly Irish with a little Cherokee on my dads side! I would hope there are no ill feelings towards me wanting to know more about roots! I think it's horrible what happened but my family didn't have anything to do with it far as I know! Beautiful Peacekeeper ♥

I am Scottish,Welsh Portuguese and Cherokee from mom's side her people came to America and settled around Kentucky and Tennesse, my dad is French Canadian and Miq-Maq his ancestors came to Maine and settled in the northern part of the state..I am told his people were Maliseet ..you are what you make yourself to be ..our mixes seem a bit confusing but it is what is in your heart and spirit that counts!! We can not judge or punish ourselves for what our ancestors may or may not have done we can only learn from their mistakes and not repeat them!!

I'm 3 different kind's of Native American, Black White as well as lord knows what else. I call it that my family is pretty much all of the colors of the rainbow. My Pop the many who raised me along with my very Native American looking mother who has been my Pop for 48 out of the 50 years of my life is Polish. We were raised color blind knowing that love knows no color. Many people from all backgrounds do many things that are not right and disrespectful to Native American's even today. However I don't go blaming whole races of people due to the ignorance as well as ignorant actions of some. To this day I still see people as people. The people who are ignorant as well as disrespectful I see as individuals. We are all many as well as varied. Peace & be well as you enjoy this beautiful music.

Such a beautiful people who were done WRONG! All Native tribes were done WRONG! It's frustrating that the beautiful tribes were forced to live on the government reservations that belonged at one time to a different tribe. Not all tribes but there were ALOT!

You gonna give your house back to the natives? Didn't think so. If you believe in their plight so much, cede your land to them and move back to the Old World... If that's not something you're willing to do, you're just as bad as the rest of us...

Jane Doe really it wasn't that bad for my native ancestors I've got white and French Canadian I have Ojibwe relatives through marriage and they have french Canadian in them too it got worse when people like you came here "America love it or give it back" how many of your home's built over native graves and the streets you drive on

But not only the Native American people were done wrong, also the Native Polynesian and Aboriginal people of every land were done wrong by heartless so-called civilized people. To me aboriginal people of every nation were much civilized than modern people. In my heart, I know that I was once Aboriginal. To me the true harmark of civilization is the ability to live in harmony with Nature. I know in my heart in previous lives I was aboriginal too.
