They say that the Comanche were the most free people that ever existed on the face of the planet, as far as we can tell. To be more specific, when the Comanche moved into west and central Texas down to the hill country they inhabited a huge area of land. They had free reign on this land, and if you were an adolescent old enough to not be looked after and young enough to not be obligated to fight, with access to a horse. Plus the fact that you had no predators to worry about. You were one of the most free humans to ever walk the face of the earth. You would have had thousands of square miles without a threat in sight, and plenty of places to hydrate and play and hunt and eat in between long fast rides across vast plains under huge magnificent skies.

Oh my God, this just happened to my Gilby. There was SO MUCH BLOOD. I came to you tube to see what kind of injuries might have happened to cause so much blood. Both of my cats are no longer wearing collars even though they are the breakaway kind. Clearly it failed. I'm absolutely drained since. My boy is sleeping next to me now.

In some images here, I see the one visitors center to Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, here in Alberta. Definitely a great place to ponder how life must have been back then.

I have had their CDs for quite a while. I have been able to listen closely and pick up the words so I can sing along. My own voice increases the resonance of the music within me. I do not, however, know all the words. I wish they were written somewhere, so I could learn the songs completely. I am not Native American but something in me somewhere recognizes the power and the healing in this chanting. I treat it with sacred reverence.
