Doctor Cliff Olson, Audiologist and founder of Applied hearing solutions in Phoenix Arizona, reacts to one of the more popular videos, Austin Goh - How to get rid of hearing loss naturally - claiming to regrow hair cells and cure hearing loss.

The whole way that most (almost all) exercise mainstream science is a form of confirmation bias where they look at everything through the lens of their textbook/lecture knowledge and the general "expert"paradigm, and then analyze through that lens. That itself is not really science. Science allows for challenging everything and looking at outside the box as being plausible for reasons that nobody has thoguht of or is aware. If Einstein was thinking within the paradigm, he likely wouldn't have thought of his theory of relatively.

I solved 5 of my problems with exclusively Austin Goh advice. And 3 of my kid's problems (which bothered them for MONTHS and no doctor could fix). He's an absolute life saver. I highly recommend.

they told me after breaking my leg my chances of walking were slim. I decided to do his methods...not wear the ortho boot that didn't even fit as they issue a large to everyone. I am a small woman and that didn't fit at all. Setting me up for failure and possibly hip breakage. I did things Austin recommended, and LISTENED to my body. I didn't do drugs after surgery, or when they sent me home. The surgeon's nurse told me I was foolish. NADA, I was a med tech...the side effects are WORSE than the benefits. I wanted to hear my body. I was UP and walking with a walker and soon a cane FASTER than the surgeon or physical therapist could believe. I ate for healing bones. I used healing oils and tried to increase circulation in the affected areas of fracture. My xrays showed fusing faster than they had seen on breaks as bad as mine and at my age...Is is mind over matter, WHO cares, it worked better and more thoroughly sooner than Western medicine. If you think Western medicine is FOR you, think again. I work in Medicare and they are about managed care that isn't very helpful to the senior population. I think Western medicine can set a bone, help in emergency stuff for life threatening crisis. For HEALING and long term, I would suggest alternative methods.

If people prefer his natural method and it works for them then good for them, I still advocate for everyone to see a doctor if they have an underlying issue at hand. But I do not appreciate your condescending tone, his videos have helped me and I’m sure others would agree he does not give off ill intent like your trying to portray.

Also do we know that hearing loss is categorically due to hair cell loss? Is there any chance there are other mechanisms such as neurodynamics or through the eustachion tubes. By yelling or blowing it can stimulate the eustachian tubes and ear pressure.

I'd still be open minded and critically think about this. If it is the case that they haven't found a case of human hair cell regneration, then we can only really say that it is under the environment at which the study took place. Did any of the studies do these massagess when testing for hair cell regeneration?

His videos helped me with my ears, they got messed up from poking my ear drum with a quip, I tried a couple of his ear and neck videos and man they are the only thing that keeps the aching away.

hello doctor! ^^ i have chronic pain in all my body alongside with nerve issues. I watch austin goh because i cant really motivate myself to excercise, and even the silly little moves he does (which i dont think actually have any scientific basis) help me a lil with pain management ^^ i have a theory that its either placebo, or just... doing something is better than doing nothing? either way, thank you very much for postin this video! its super weird seeing only people who believe that austins methods work XD i felt a lil alone, until i heard you ^^

Do what you do and let Austin doe what he is doing! I've seen these faces of people that don't understand different kind of healing methods. He is not doing anything weird just exercises that stimulates the blood circulation ect. Also you say you don't know what he is doing then why make a video about it???

When I say I don't know what he's doing, what I'm implying is that the things that he is doing doesn't make any sense. The stuff he is doing has ZERO impact on hearing restoration. He is spreading false hope and if he were licensed to practice any kind of medicine, which he isn't, he would lose his license. I can't believe we still live in an age where people fall for crap like this.

Follow Austin's videos, he's an expert martial artist, he has mastered energy flow and has a Guinness world record, he know his thing, but these westerns physicians know nothing about it and they laugh it off. They don't know traditional Asian medicine has been working for millennia, fools 😂

What does it matter? It’s not hurting you in any way. If it works, it works. It it does not then it’s ok. It’s not going to harm. There are no treatments anyway.

Hello Dr. Cliff thank you so much for doing this video! I had sudden hearing loss and tinnitus from ototoxic insult and tried lot of things, including this method, obviously no change. I use a hearing aid. Would you do an episode critiquing yoga and breathing exercises for hearing loss improvement we find on internet? I am an avid yoga fan and am keen to know your views. As mammals our hair cells cannot regenerate, unless the the clinical trials yield more results. But can synapses, or neuroplasticity, auditory nerves...etc get little better with increased blood flow to cochlea, and resulting hearing somewhat improved by yoga or some of these exercises Austin Gog suggests? In yoga, alternate breathing (Anulom Vilom), Bhramari pranayam, downward facing dog, Matsyasana( fish pose), Trikonasana (triangle pose), tree pose, neck relaxation techniques etc. are suggested to improve mild to moderate hearing loss. Is that possible? I could send you some links on these if you are interested. Once again, thank you for all the great information you are providing in this domain!

Please spend at least 8 hours of sleep 😴💤 and quite longer if you are sick . Yogay yogi whatever Ask professional Audiologist AuD Doctors and hearing Aides dealership what to recommend better hearing if you don't wear hearing aid or you don't need to wear anything if you got normal hearing if you do have bad hearing and you already hearing it please please clean those ears molds and tubes .

@@DrCliffAuD I thought Austin Goh was a quack at first, until I read the comments on his videos. They are his testimony for what he does. I tried his runny nose method when I had a cold. Not a permanent solution but it worked fast enough for me to get some sleep that night. He has some amazing methods!

The part of Goh's exercises that flexes the eardrum might mobilize the stapes in the earliest stage of otosclerosis, before bone remodeling has completely locked the footplate of the stapes to the margin of the oval window. That conceivably could help a few patients whose mild hearing loss is due to stapes immobility. It's not likely to help the majority of patients who have either conductive loss or sensorineural loss.

His hypertension massage worked for me though, I felt tension and pain in my chest, did the massage and it eased the pain. Idk about this one though, maybe he meant clearing the ear instead?

I don't know if you read comments, but what's your view on cleaning out your ears with 3% food grade peroxide? Nothing has worked better for me, along side rinsing with a baby bung/douche thing afterwards. I had almost total hearing loss when I woke up and I got a massive ball of wax out. Such a relief. I also have a phone Otoscope and was monitoring in between steps to make sure I could see the progress and no damage. Now my left eardrum looks completely visible and clean. My right isn't, but I don't have any issues with hearing so I'm leaving it alone for now. My mum is around 50% deaf in both ears, which is why I subscribed to your channel as she's very stubborn about wearing hearing aids. Interestingly to me her ear canals are extremely narrow I couldn't even look with my Otoscope. It would be wonderful to discover my mother just had wax build up like me, but it's unlikely I think.

There is a video on Austin Goh's channel, where his assistant makes a surgery because of hair loss. That's the best proof that suggested exercises are not effective. I don't believe it can completely eliminate the issue. I don't have hearing loosing problem, but I tried his other exercises for a long period of time (for some other health issues). I felt short term relief in the beginning, but after almost a year I don't have noticeable improvements. Some of his exercises are better than nothing, but I would not recommend to rely on them.

Yes. 5 minutes but do it everyday. Doing a simple excercise for 5 minutes is easy but doing it everyday maybe twice a day is where people lack so yes, understanding first what Mr Austin says instead of being judgmental on simple terms.

As an Audiologist I have a responsibility to not let false information go unchecked. This method clearly does not cure hearing loss on anyone & is likely delaying proper treatment which can lead to accelerated rates of cognitive decline. His false information is NOT harmless to people with hearing loss.

I always tell people when they buy into this homeopathy yoga crap. Do some research, speak with a doctor, be patient and let the researchers work on improving the quality of life of those who have these health issues, but in the meantime protect the hearing you have left with the treatment we have available to us today, it might not be ideal but its the best technology has to offer and certainly 10x than what anyone could've hoped for decades ago, practice gratitude and enjoy your life by doing the things you love. Every time a videos like these trend it doesn't serve you and will pull you back into those limiting beliefs that made you stop living your life in the first place. Hair cell regeneration isn't science fiction but it's not a natural human ability, so it has to be safe before it's approved, it has nothing to do with a conspiracy of evil rich old men who benefit more from your problems. There's no point in rushing the first thing that seems like a breakthrough if it means that it will create a host of unknown issues that would require more band aids. What you can do is spread awareness or incorporate it into you what ever you do inspire people and show strength. Keep faith and never give up.

The comments on these videos are even worse, the first days of my tinnitus I was looking at them. It fucked up my anxiety so much. Fortunantly my anxiety is gone and I accepted it, only have tinnitus for 1 week now. I have an perforated eardrum and still have hope the ringing will go away once it heals. : )

Western medicine is flawed. Traditional Asian medicine has been going strong for over five thousand years. Why do you expect your mainstream physician to know about this? This audiologist here didn't even acknowledge the flow of Chi, which is what we're moving in Austin's exercises that work wonders, btw. He thought Austin was "yelling" 🤣🤣🤣 nooo, that's the Chi moving in a specific way.

Nothing can really cure Hearing Loss and being Deaf Doctor Cliff and I found out that your Hearing Level only goes down over time so you always need more amplification possible and new hearing aids all the time. Maybe some people who Watch KZfaq Videos would think that if they had a higher level of Hearing and did not wear hearing aids to Hear but when you do and have a Higher level of Hearing Loss for a long time you know that nothing will Cure it or make you Hearing. I feel kind of bad for people who would think that they can take a Drug to maybe Cure them or make them able to Hear but then find out it did not work. If something really Worked my Audiologist would have given it to me by now to at least try to find out if it did something but right now you just get new Hearing Aids with more amplification or CIs and read lips.
