In this video we show you the construction of a natural pool. It is built according to the Teichdoctor-method, so let's call it swimmteich. Mosts of the construction is shown in fast motion.
Me personally, I love the little kid that keeps swimming in that natural and inviting water, while everybody else around her is working.....
Have fun watching,
Ines von Teichswimmer

@teichswimmer6746
@teichswimmer6746 Жыл бұрын
Dear Maria, thank you for your interest! Well, so far we do not have a video yet, sorry! - But we have had this question before. - It is possible to convert a concrete swimming pool to a swimmteich like we have it. But it is some effort because you have to get a certain depth and room for the regeneration zone. If you have enough room, it is a project that's worth the effort. The easiest is probably to convert it into a natural pool without plants, but with filters and skimmers. That's probably more expensive, but not necessarily. - We personally do not want to depend on power (for the pumps), that's why we went for the Teichdoctor-system...... And the filters have to fit exactly to the amount of water in your pool and to the content of your water (nutrients, phosphor, ..... whatever) But if we ever get the chance to accopany a convertion of a concrete pool into a swimmteich, we will, of course have a video of it! Best regards, Ines von Teichswimmer

Is this pvc lining? I’m having trouble finding RPE in any color besides black amd I don’t want a dark pool but heard pvc doesn’t last as long
@teichswimmer6746
@teichswimmer6746 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the question. - Yes, this is PVC. - Actually I do understand very well that you dont want a black liner. So, for a natural pool you can either use EPDM (black), PVC (many colors) and TPO (stiffer, no plasticizers, not as easy to work with as PVC). Concerning the lasting, we can only say that we have not heard of any natural swimming pool or pond or swimmteich that had problems with the lasting of the liner. - We have the feeling (from talking with many people with many different solutions) that the liner is - when professionally used and installed - the smallest risk. We have the feeling that all of the liners - no matter which one - last for at least 30 years. - The only thing you have to take care of (we do that with teichdoctor-Teichs) is that the liner is not exposed to direct sun. - That is why we cover the top end of the liner (at the edge of the swimmteich) with gravel or stone liner or with a wooden walkway...... Best regards, ines

Hi. I'm living at 7000 ft in AZ,USA. We get little snow but do get 3° here. Will the pool freeze? I don't want a large pool just 6ft deep and big enough for me and my dog to play in, the less work I have to do the better to maintain it.

My dear, thanks for your question! - What an interesting project at this height! Our swimmteich freezes in winter, no problem. And it can get very cold in Austria, too. - For how long a period does it have those 3 degrees? - Days or weeks? But I am afraid I have to tell you that that system does work because of the depth zone. - one third at least should have a depth of at least 10 ft, otherwise it will not work..... Even if it's small. If it is very small, you can get away with 8 ft. Have you watched that video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qqqmoJOp0rKYpaM.html Best regards, Ines von Teichswimmer

I understood that the pipe that circulates the pool has the function of throwing the water that falls in this area out. This is correct? But I didn't understand how the pipe that is in the degeneration area works. It takes water from where to where? Thanks from Brazil.
@teichswimmer6746
@teichswimmer6746 Жыл бұрын
Dear Bruno, Yes, your first assumption is correct. The pipes in the regeneration zone sit in the gravel case and guarantee that there is enough flow through the gravel case that hosts the microorganisms (which are responsible for the purification of the water). Through them the water can circulate (naturally) through the gravel case. There is no pump to take the water anywhere.... Hope that I could answer your question. - We describe that quite well in our book.... Best regards, Ines von Teichswimmer

Hi- love your pool. Wondering the depth of the deepest end of the pool? Also- what is your ground like? I have a lot of clay in the ground where I live which can only serve to help strengthen the sides of the pool I assume? We are currently in the middle of building our own natural swimming pool, and we are not putting any barriers around the pool to hold anything up, I'm getting some last minute concerns wondering if the lack of a wall within the pool would be an issue. Yours turned out beautiful and it doesn't seem it was an issue for you all. Any advice would be appreciated!
@teichswimmer6746
@teichswimmer6746 Жыл бұрын
Dear Luna, thank you! Monika will like that! In this pool of the video the deep end is at 2,5m (8ft). She wanted to get to a depth of 3 or 3,5 meters (10 or 11 ft), but then the ground water made her keep the depth of 2,5m (8ft). The ground at Monika's house was not perfect because it used to be a small forest a few years ago. that's why she had quite a lot of roots in her soil. Clayey soil is the best for building a natural pool. I assume you could definitely do without a wall. But you should refinish the soil wall before you put the liner in....so it gets smooth like a wall. That's easy if you have clay in your soil. And don't forget the fabrics... Hope that answers your questions! Best regards, Ines von Teichswimmer

@@teichswimmer6746 I so appreciate your response! The trouble we have bumped into is the fact that our property is at a slant, so we have had to rebuild our back yard, and the dirt/clay removed from the yard, was used to build up the slanted side to make it even with the other, higher side. So I am trying to figure out the best approach to how we will be able to place things like stepping stones on the edge, though the ground is appearing curved. We thought we could use larger wooden boards to go above the liner, and above the boards placing the cement stepping stones, allowing for more support.
