Lord willing, the birth of this 5th baby will be my second homebirth, and I'm planning to forego using a midwife just like I did with my last. I explain that decision in the video. I'll link some resources and my prenatal essentials below!

Whey Caramel Recipe: 1
gallon of whey
4 cups sugar
1 T vanilla extract
Simmer the whey on low on the stove until it's reduced by half, you may have some curd rise to the top so just strain that out, then return the whey to the stove and add the sugar. simmer on low for several hours until you have a thick syrup. Remove from heat and add the vanilla. That’s it! Just a couple minutes of hands-on time. Store in the fridge and use whenever.

My midwife’s thing was to leave the husband and wife to do their thing and train the husband to hear and see the signs of when to call her because the moment the midwife is around, your body depends on her instead and stalls the pregnancy. She was a blessing to my life because I don’t hear too many stories of midwives like her. My hubby really wanted to create a “dad doula” business because it really is the couples journey through a home birth. Congrats and praying your journey and the Lords wisdom continues to carry you through!

I have never heard of someone taking control like this. It's incredibly impressive. A video detailing your self given medical care, what someone should do who doesn't have the nursing experience you have and is a first time mom, you mentioned preventing a post pard. hemorrhage...details on that. It is a huge fear of mine. Anything else you would be willing to share on this would be amazing!!!

I loved hearing about your experiences! I’ve had 6 natural births, the first was in the hospital and they allowed me to refuse all meds 13 years ago and I too have always been surprised about that! Then I went on to have 5 home births!! My 3rd home birth was unassisted because the midwife was late and I had always wanted to not hire a midwife for prenatal and birth but my husband was more comfortable with my midwife so we went with that. Praying I will be blessed to have another some day ❤ so excited for your family

@@HopewellHeights it was a blessing!!! Being threatened with an episiotomy, not being allowed to birth in water where I naturally wanted to, and the recovery in hospital coupled with them constantly wanting to check me and take my baby to the hospital nursery we’re major factors in why I chose home birth after that

Love the info! I've been trying to tell people that prenatals were more of a propaganda technique to get people to buy them out of fear, but I've kept my mouth shut now that I'm pregnant. I just don't want the harassment. I've been taking the supplements I feel I need though. I eat a ton of fatty meats and veggies and fruit I grow myself at home, so to me, I eat well while also avoiding the toxic matrix-y foods. I avoid toxins by making my own laundry soap, using lard + lye soap bars, and cleaning sprays. Seeing you being such a confident momma that knows her stuff on here saying these things fills me with more of my own confidence when it comes to pregnancy, and I am grateful to hear it all. Just found your blog and I'm gonna deep dive into all of this. Thanks so much friend!

This is so full of good info and I definitely plan to return to it whenever I'm pregnant next. I've had 3 natural home births, and was leaning towards trying for a free birth in the future, but my 3rd baby had to be resuscitated by the team of midwifes (of which I had only been expecting one so having multiple present actually saved the day) and I had already gone into shock when she was fully delivered so I didn't even know about it for over 24 hours. Passed APGAR by a second though so we were all good, but it makes me hesitate to try free birth now. Such a hard decision.

We did natural home birth with baby #5 and I really want to try unassisted with this babe; my husband wasn't as confident, until I reminded him of the cost of a good midwife 😂. I think it would be amazing, but I always plan for best and worst case scenarios. I LOVE pregnancy through fall/winter.

I would love to know if you prepare freezer meals to have ready for when baby comes, and what they would be. I’m about as far along as you are with baby #7 and already thinking I need to load up the freezer! I also worked in the medical field for about 10 yrs and realized very quickly that I didn’t want to deliver in the hospital if I didn’t have to. So all of my babies have been home births with babies #5 and 6 (and hopefully #7) being unassisted. I thank The Lord for helping me thru them all! I agree with you 100% on all you’ve said! Staying home in general can be a huge preventative for birth emergencies. Many things like dystocia, pph, baby not breathing well, tone, etc are a result of hospital procedures. When a woman is left undisturbed to birth…these issues either don’t come up or often resolve.

It’s refreshing to hear a perspective very similar to my own when it comes to the journey of prenatal care and birthing practices. Finishing up our first trimester with baby 5 and still undecided about what route we’re going to take. We’ve had 4 natural hospital births where I literally wait until baby is crowning to avoid the pressure of interventions. But even then I’m met with a barrage of of unnecessary treatments when I’m just trying to relax and let baby come out. Would love to go the midwife route but unfortunately all three certified midwives on our island are New Age which not something we want to welcome into our birth. Leaving us with the choice of an unassisted home birth or going back to the medical route. There’s so many factors to consider but peace comes by walking in Faith and trusting God’s design.

I hate that this is the reality for so many! Definitely a massive shortage of Christian midwives. Historically, single or married barren women participated in childbearing by being midwives - we need to encourage more of that!

are you by chance in Connecticut? im also pregnant with my 5th and have been having the hardest time finding a midwife who aligns with my faith. one midwife said she was christian on her website- great! I email her and got no response. a second midwife actually wrote "deconstructing my fundamentalist christian upbringing one day at a time" on her website!! thank god she did bc I do not want that energy around me. 3rd midwife asked me "are you a christian??" when I told her I was pregnant with my 5th child in 5 years. I dont really want to free birth bc I've had consistent issues with babies positioning during labor but idk how im supposed to trust any of the midwives around me.

Id love to hear your advice on preventing a hemorrhage. I had a c section and 3 vbacs but i want to do a homebirth but I'm afraid of hemorrhage. I have back labor and 10pound babies so the size increases risks. My last two vbacs were all natural. My youngest is 4 months old
@HopewellHeights
@HopewellHeights 10 ай бұрын
One of the books I linked talks about preventing hemorrhage. Nutrition is part of it, the nettle infusion is a big one. Also, the birth itself is important. No bright lights, no coached birthing/pushing, no pulling on the cord, no interventions. When birth is left alone and baby goes straight to breast, hemorrhage risk is greatly reduced. Yet another factor is the subjectivity of diagnosing hemorrhage. Some birth attendants will call 500cc a hemorrhage, some won’t call it until 1000cc. That’s a huge difference. So a woman who loses 500cc could be told she “hemorrhaged” when in reality she was just fine but her midwife prefers to treat as a precautionary measure at 500. I personally believe hemorrhage should not be diagnosed without looking at the mother. Is she symptomatic? If not, watch and wait. If so, treat. One woman could be symptomatic at 750cc while another is perfectly fine at 1000cc. Lots to consider, these are just some jumping off points…

I feel you. My first, live baby, was with an epidural, and if I could go back, I would rip that shit out of me. My second was a home birth. I didn’t know the pain does not get much worse after 6cm. It’s just more frequent. But you know when you get that break, everything is soooo calming, especially when you’re by yourself. I am so excited for baby #3. Idk when God will bless us with him/her. My thyroid does not work, hence my hormones will not cooperate with baby-making. But whenever that is, I will be open arms. Home birth was the best decision I ever made.

What is the process like to get ID for a baby born at home? I've had one baby and am pregnant again. Here in Canada the doctor signs off on the birth. Is it more difficult to get ID for a baby born at home?

I love your videos, thank you so much for sharing! I have also had two home births (with a midwife), it is so inspiring hearing your free birth story! I received read “Placenta the Forgotten Chakra,” by Robin Lim (midwife). She shares how she uses the placenta to stop postpartum hemorrhaging, just as she learned from traditional “bush” midwives. - coating a piece in honey(optional) and giving it to Mom. Just thought I would share incase other Mamas have worries around hemorrhaging and giving birth at home ❤

How does free birth work with getting birth certificates? So cool on your confidence and skills. Also is there concern for medical kidnapping if you had to transfer to a hospital with undocumented prenatal care? That’s one of my fears.

I was induced with my son. He went one week over and the doctor made me feel like I was taking a big risk if i didnt choose induction. During birth, i found that the pain went from manageable to absolutely intense crazy in just a few minutes and that was when i was only 1 cm dilated. I couldnt inagine the next 10 hours or so of that pain and ended up getting an epidural. Does anyone know if being induced results in more intense pain? And if so, is induction really necessary? At what point would it be the only option?
@HopewellHeights
@HopewellHeights 10 ай бұрын
Yes pitocin definitely makes contractions a lot more intense since it’s forcing the uterus to contract unnaturally. Most doctors and even some midwives out time limits on gestation and refuse to attend births past a certain point. Many people, myself included, do not agree with that bad believe babies will come when they are ready. It’s a heated topic, so very worth it to heavily research!

I had to be induced 24 weeks into my first pregnancy, and it feels like having the worst bout with food poisoning ever. Take the epidural and then go see a chiropractor after about a month or so so that they could readjust your back. Every time I get an epidural, I loose the sensation to need to go pee, and getting readjusted by the chiropractor brings back that nerve function that was numbed by the epidural.

Yes inducing makes things worse, at least with the first I had it and did not wanted to repeat it never again - all my kids like to stay long time in belly, so with the next ones I was trying to do all kind of tricks, so they decide to be born... but I was not very successfull, so in another 2 births they broke watter in hospital, which again... I must say leads (at least to me) to more pain. One was born without braking watters and I was not listenning them to get on bed and delivered him like "cows" 🤗 But it was the fastest and lest painfull birth I had - and he was born in non broken bag with all liquid - all protected :)

An interesting perspective - from my vet some years back. I had a mare that was "overdue" (or so I thought; we purchased her, and had complete records showing that the last 6 foals were all delivered early) - the vet checked, she was already dilated and had numerous previous foals, so he induced her. I think that if it were a first foal, or there was no dilation, he would not have done so.

I wish I could have had normal child births at home. Unfortunately, my first was breech and tangled in the cord, which lead to a C-section. My second was supposed to be natural but again complications arose due to my uterus splitting along the C-section scar, which lead to another C-section. All in all I just thank our Lord my babies came through it all alive and well. I come from a big family, with no history of complications during pregnancy or birth. So, this was sooo unexpected. It’s definitely wise to be well informed and to have regular check ups. All in all, I’m blessed to have two beautiful children.

Oddly enough, my last pregnancy I had terrible nausea and overall just felt like poop….I had a suspicion is was due to the water even though we used a filtered pitcher (we lived on a military base). I switched to bottled water and it immediately fixed the issue. So glad I moved off base 🙄 without a doubt nausea in pregnancy is usually related to something you’re consuming (or not consuming).

Pregnancy and giving birth is so different every time. For my first one I didn't do any medication, but since she was quite late and quite big, the giving birth part was difficult. I'm glad I was in the hospital. My second one was breach (butt down) and I had to have a C-section once he was too big to have him vaginally. With the third one my water broke at home, but I had hardly any contractions. After waiting for a while (and calling my doctor), he made the decision that they also had to get him through C-section. Unfortunately only one of my 3 births was natural and I would have survived none of them at home. :( Makes me sad that I didn't get to experience home births.

Seven live births, three were assisted hospital births, two were hospital births that were unassisted. Our midwife let us do hands off birthing in the hospital. My husband and I did it all alone but we were still in the hospital just in case we needed anything. Two were unassisted homebirths. Obviously, the unassisted homebirths were the best. No one to answer to, no one to bother me, just me, baby, my mom, siblings, and daddy. cleanup was not fun, lol. Glad my mom was there to help with that part of it.
