Marian shows us her amazing Garden where she grows plants specifically for using for their natural dyes, like Woad, marigolds, Madder, and many more. She uses companion planting to help deter deer, and pests, and she also shows us some of the end results of how the wool she sells looks when dyed with these natural plant dyes. When her Uncle was unable to sell his farms wool in 2001 she took it upon her self to look into a learn about natural dyes, mostly at the time because it was the cheap/free option, and after processing and dyeing the wool she was able to sell all of his surplus dyed wool through Ebay, and even had to start buying raw wool from other local wool producers! She now has a store on wheels that she used to take her product to markets as well as a place where people can come to her and see her products on display for sale. Pretty amazing stuff with lots to learn here for anyone wanting to pursue the market scene, or for anyone interested in the process of natural dyeing.

Cool! I've got dahlias, marigolds and purple beans (plus all the usual edible plants)... The Scottish plants are intriguing and my great-grandparents were Scottish and Irish. I love this lady and her lifestyle and how this developed out of a desire to help her uncle.
