Close to one million animal and plant species are at risk of extinction. Many of these species are having a difficult time adjusting to a changing climate. To better understand how to help our environment we need more data. In 2009, the USA National Phenology Network started Nature’s Notebook--a community-based science project that invites participants to track seasonal changes in plants and animals. Sandy DeSimone, Director of Research & Education at Orange County’s Audubon California's Starr Ranch Sanctuary has participated in the program for more than four years. She and volunteers share their experiences of what it’s like to become an observer of nature.
Join their effort to help our planet in a changing climate. Get started at naturesnotebook.org.
Nature’s Notebook is a program of the US Geological Survey-funded USA National Phenology Network. Learn more at usanpn.org.

Clearly illustrates the contribution of citizen science. Also recognizes the benefits of making nature observation opportunities available to senior citizens, and other interested naturalists is a great benefit to the land and all who dwell thereon. Love this video...

I have noticed the lack of butterflies, which are such a work of art that I bought a plant that attracts butterflies. We need to keep nature alive. Thanks for all you do.
