In this lesson we go on a scavenger hunt in nature! Using the list provided, we look for different textures, colors, and line. We will save three of the items to create three mini works of art by looking at pattern, creating a motif, and looking at color. We also briefly discuss organic and geometric shapes.
This lesson can be adapted to many ages. If you want to focus on line, texture and color by putting more focus on the scavenger hunt, it works great for younger kids. Older kids will learn more by additionally creating the mini artworks and learning a little more about patterns, motif, and organic shape.
You can use many different materials for this project, but I used watercolor, paper, and a black ink pen. If you want to follow the lesson closely, I used piece of wood for the pattern, a few different leaves and a flower for the motif, and a green and yellow leaf for the color changes.
If you would like to create a photo collage of some of the items you found, I’d love to see them!
See ya next week!
