When I was a kid on the farm I fought in the Great Wasp Wars of the 90s. Clumps of dry dirt from the cornfield were my grenades. Plastic baseball bats were my mighty swords. Hairspray and a stolen lighter were my flamethrowers. Cans of any kind of spray were my chemical weapons. My little sisters were my troops. We defeated nest after nest after nest but then one day the wasps made common cause with the bumblebees and we were beset by two mighty foes. The Woodpile Bumblebee Wars raged on for a long time. Many were stung before we focused our attention on the Bumblebee front and launched an all-out attack on their queen. She was the size of a basketball to my young eyes. I smote her down with a swing of my sword and the war was over.

I had some yellow jackets move into my broken door bell when I lived in South Dakota, and I sprayed "Easy Off" foaming oven cleaner in the hole. THEY CAME POURING OUT! Not flying but literally pouring as that stuff started dissolving them on contact and since it was a foam I filled the hole up and overnight it dried hard and fixed the problem permanently!

Just found your channel & love it. I was a pest controller for many years yet know nothing about bees in particular (our swarms were like old friendly dogs) . Why wouldn’t you guys use a motorised mister / fogger with permethrin or similar ? There’s obviously a reason you use spray cans yet I thought a big volume fogger would work

@@KillerBeeGuy That's incredible! Those bees are terrible aren't they! They remind me of the wild hog problem we have here in East Texas. The things are so resilient it's incredible. It is scary that those bees are getting so close to home. We need more people like you to get rid of these vermin. I thought of two questions. One, do you see/get calls about non killer bees in Arizona like Europeon honey bees? Also, do you see wild hogs at all in Arizona or is it too hot for them there? They don't seem to mind the 115 degree Texas sun all to much. Thanks!

When I'm around supposedly normal bees and if I go near them at night, some of them will go after the flashlight in the dark. Most of them won't because they are supposedly normal european genetics. But some of them don't like flashlights at night. Is this indicative of small percentages of africanized bees in a supposedly non-africanized, european genetics hive? I found this quite puzzling. Normally if I have a light at night near beehives they don't usually go after the flash light. But occasionly there's like 1 or 2 that do.
@KillerBeeGuy2 жыл бұрын
There have been many attacks from folks shining a light at Africanized bees at night or say in a dark attic. They attack light every time! I also used to watch my Africanized hives work on a full moon! AT NIGHT!

How do beekeepers make a living off bees down there, if all of them are africanized? Seems like even if you did have non-africanized...and not sure if you could...it seems like everyone would think you had africanized based on the conditions, and you'd have no end of problems. Do beekeepers just leave the area? I'd heard people say they'll requeen each year to keep them tame, but if everything else is africanized and if everyone THINKS yours are africanized, I don't see how you'd get anywhere. And you'd always be afraid of being sued.
@KillerBeeGuy Жыл бұрын
Great thoughts! There are no hobby beeks here that are in their right mind. There are reports all the time about someone's European hive that just went huts and attacked everything! Problem is that your nice hive is next to impossible to keep from becoming Africanized!
