Excellent performance...one question, though. As each branch's anthem was introduced, the conductor saluted the service people who stood...but not the ones from the Navy. Was that for a reason, or was he just so choked up with emotion?

When I was in the navy you weren't supposed to salute if you didn't have a cover on outside for your branch of service

That is typical with most military bands. Unknown reason why, but they usually don't do it for their own branch.

The reason is that anyone playing your own anthem - if you will - is saluting you , as it is. And there is the factor that you *don't tout your own horn* - as a naval serviceman, you salute all other branches to display respect. But with your own anthem, you just acknowledge, that you are there... ... and you are the best :D Jk. But as a naval pilot, can't say anything else.
