Retired Marine here. Loved it when I was on active duty and the Commandant at the time decried that at occasions when the Marines Hymn was to be played, it was preceded by Anchor's Aweigh as a nod to our sea service heritage. Always played as one movement with a nice segue between the two.

Memorial Day, 1964, I had just joined the Navy (Reserves),wearing my uniform for the very first time, all lined up for the hometown parade, when the 100+ member Muskegon Mona Shores HS band, whose team name is the Sailors, and fight song, Anchors Aweigh, struck up their fight song. Can't describe the thrill I felt. I still try to attend the hometown Memorial Day parade and fill again with pride whenever I hear the 'Sailors' play MY fight song.

One of the best renditions of Anchors Aweigh I've ever seen. The band is well practiced and has wonderful flourishes throughout, and the leader gives a salute at the end to past band members who are in the audience. GO NAVY!

I KNOW, Mastacheifa. I thought the same thing. Looks like the same size as the Great Lakes SSC band I played & marched with. I hope we sounded as good (I think we did). We weren't MU's, but ET's, FT's, EM's, MM's, GM's all attending tech school and playing in the band as an extracurricular activity.

Not bad, but when I was the piccolo player for Commander inChief, Atlantic Fleet Band (what later became the Fleet Forces Band) we played this without music. We never carried music or lyres, and had everything memorized that we played while standing in formation or on the march.
