When people say this is the "easy way out", taking medication, i say "Thank You!". Who wants to keep living life on hard mode all the time? If one thing in my life can go easier, so that i can spend time focusing on all the other hard things life has to offer, i'll take the "break" of stressing about weight loss in a heartbeat. They can live life on hard mode all they want to. I choose to cut myself some slack. Its been hard enough for so long trying to figure out this health/weight loss thing.

Additionally, anybody who says this is easy is sadly mistaken. I have been obese/ overweight my whole life and lost 97 bs with a lapband in 2011... only to gain 50 lbs of that back. That also was not easy. Since being on Zepbound, this is the hardest I have ever worked on any of the numerous weight loss ventures I have attempted. It is a tool that makes some things possible or easier but in totality, this is NOT easy 💜💜💜

“It’s a tool that makes some things easier or possible, but in totality this is not easy.” Facts!! 👊🏽 And I agree, even when I lost a bunch of weight and nearly made it to goal (sometime in 2018 I think), that was mostly from extreme calorie restriction but hardly any exercise. This is definitely not easy. But we’re doing it this time! 💪🏽🔥👊🏽🙏🏽💕

Don’t let people like that make you feel bad. Someone who has never dealt with food noise would NEVER understand. Her lack of empathy is apparent. This medication isn’t the easy way, you have to still make lifestyle changes and you have been! The “hard way” doesn’t make sense when there are tools to make it more efficient. I have absolutely no guilt or shame being on this medication because I know the profound impact it has had on my life. Jill, some people are so miserable that they can’t seem to see outside of themselves. Let her and everyone else with an issue do it the “right way” and they can keep struggling. Thank you for sharing your experience, Jill! People react in crappy ways when they can hide behind a keyboard. The naysayers don’t understand that some of us experienced trauma as young people that resulted in turning to food. Diet and exercise alone don’t always work for us, even when combined with intense psychotherapy and other medical interventions. Overcoming trauma is hard, especially when food is involved, because we can’t just stop eating. This is where tools like Zepbound and Ozempic come in. For me, Zepbound has released me from my dependency on food to overcome my trauma for the very first time in my life. Dieting and exercise alone never did that for me, even when I did them for long periods of time. I was miserable, depressed, angry, and hungry all the time without Zepbound and I ultimately reverted and gained the weight back. With Zepbound I finally feel like I have a normal relationship with food. I eat when I’m hungry, I don’t think about food all day, and I don’t turn to food when I feel stressed. This all motivates me to eat healthy foods and develop healthy physical habits. People who have never been through trauma don’t understand that it takes special tools and a lot of different kinds of work to overcome it and live a healthy life. Different tools work for different people. I appreciate you sharing and being open about your journey! Thank you!
@2.0mommy

I’m so sorry! I see that you posted it a while ago, but I missed it. You bring up a very valid point. Trauma adds another dynamic when it comes to weight loss that most people don’t even think about. And like you pointed out, you can’t just avoid for the way an alcoholic can avoid alcohol. I’m so glad you finally feel free from your dependency on food. It’s an incredible experience to finally feel like you can function like the average person. I love that zepbound makes it so you can think about food when you’re hungry and not have thoughts of food consume you. And I agree, it’s the catalyst that made me WANT to eat better and move more. Without out, there’s no way I’d have the motivation for it. I’m really very happy for you! Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. If you’re looking for extra motivation (this sounds sales-y, but I just think community is huge ) I’m active on the community tab M-F here on KZfaq. I post things to help keep us motivated and some other ladies check in and let me know how their movement is going. It started as a walking challenge in April but not its ANY movement. This is a great video. I have the mindset that if I don't do all the things (exercise, calorie counting,) after the meds,it will all come back. I would never troll or publicly judge anyone ever. However, I realized that I had been judging internally. I was talking to my adult son who decided in middle school that he was not going to be overweight and he completely changed his eating and exercise. He is 23 now and has maintained his decision his entire life. I say that only because I recently told him that I am on Zepbound (7 weeks in) and was telling him about all the people who "are doing it wrong, only eating 800 calories a day, not exercising...blah blah blah" He put me in my place real quick.... they aren't doing it wrong, they are listening to their bodies. Sorry this post is so long 😂. All that to say, his wisdom really made me think about my own judgment of others. I tend to just worry about me but even in private conversations, this is not ok. Everyone one is different and as much as we want to help others, in the end, what a person chooses for themselves is the right thing for them. Great video, as always Jill!

If you feel discouraged that you can’t exercise because of your joints, just remember that exercise makes up a tiny piece of the weight loss puzzle. Getting your nutrition dialed in will do more for fat loss than exercise. Exercise is great for building muscle and heart health, but if you can’t do much until you lose a little bit more weight, that’s OKAY! Don’t want you to feel discouraged. I try to educate people in social media that we each have our own struggles and that judgment is unnecessary. Sometimes, I’m successful and other times, not so much. Lots of rude ppl online, ‘keyboard warriors’ who wouldn’t have the courage to be that rude to your face, but will happily be uninhibitedly awful to you on the Internet. 🤷‍♂️ My last such person was a celeb gossip channel guy (fifth-rate Perez Hilton wannabe) who was demonizing Oprah for no good reason other than to get clicks. I told him that wasn’t very cool, and he cursed at me. Am certain he’d never do that in the real world (or at least would not enjoy the response he’d get if he did). But, some ppl are just all about control, and they see *everything* through that lens. To them, any info or response that contradicts their own personal narrative (they’re the STAR of their own ‘personal movie’), even a little bit, is seen as a hostile act, and ‘must be dealt with accordingly’. You can’t have a real conversation with such ppl. ‘Cuz you can’t have a real conversation with a narcissist. 🤷‍♂️

I also am grateful for less food noise and having mental time to acknowledge that I’ve had enough to eat. However, both can be over powered by ignoring them and just eating. I still need to watch what I eat, low calorie, high protein, and let’s not forget fiber! If I want to build muscle and protect and strengthen my heart I need to exercise. I don't think it's the easy way out at all. Some people just need a little help along the way is all ❤ Rudeness def says more about the other people! The fact that you grew 10 (TEN) people in your body alone... shows that you are not an easy way out type of gal anyway! I so appreciate you saying you feel people with smaller weights to lose should get the meds too if they need it. According to my insurance I don’t qualify, but I’m on all kinds of meds for bp and cholesterol and prediabetes. My 5’3” frame doesn’t take well to the SAD diet and just a little bit of extra weight. I have cleaned up my diet a LOT, and have increased my exercise. I’m highly motivated. It would be great to just knock off these extra 30 pounds. I’ve been stalled at this weight for a year now (I have already lost 30, but need to drop 30 more). I have an appointment with a dietitian and a weight loss doctor, in search of guidance and wisdom. I don’t want to take the shots, what I want is a magic wand waved over me to stop the food noise and get my rear organized in the kitchen! I think we should be kind always and not make assumptions. I don’t think your comment was out of line at all.

Hi! That’s got to be incredibly frustrating. 😤 But I guess the good news is that you’ve maintained the weight you did lose. It’s unfortunate that your insurance won’t approve this. With only 30 lbs to lose, you’d only be on it a short time. Maybe only 3-6 months. Have you considered a compounded version? So many in this community have had great success going that route and they never have to deal with the shortages either. I’m glad you’re meeting with a dietitian and weight loss doctor. Hopefully they’ll be able to offer you some guidance because nobody has time for a year long stall! Congrats on the 30lbs you already lost. That’s awesome!! 🥳🤩💪🏽🤗 And I totally get not wanting to deal with the shots and just wanting a magic bullet! I feel the same way and I’m pretty much on a miracle drug! lol I’m assuming you’re just passing through but if you’re looking for some motivation and encouragement, you can find me on the community tab M-F. I post each day there and I have a group of ladies that check in with me and let me know how they’re doing as far as exercise goes. It started as a walking challenge in April and May and this month the focus isn’t limited to walking. I’m strength training but some ladies are sticking with walking, going to the gym or any thing that gets them moving. No pressure, just thought I’d mention it! Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙏🏽💕

Wow yea it’s so hard anything over “text” pretty much anyone can take any way they feel. I hardly comment on all the keto and carnivore channels I follow anymore because of that very reason. As soon as anyone sees you’re on a med then suddenly nothing you say about weight loss or your chosen diet matters anymore….even though I’ve been following these channels for years. I’ve gotten more “hate” now more than even after weight loss surgery, crazy. The reality unfortunately is that most of the people who are judgey while not changing any habits etc will most likely not have long term success. I’ve slowed giving to much advice because people really have to just figure it out on their own and seek out the information lol
@2.0mommy
@2.0mommy 2 ай бұрын
That’s definitely true, things get lost in translation with text. And those channels are the worst when it comes to running their mouth about glp1s. Not the channels, (I follow some too) but the comments. So much ignorance and emotional immaturity. And I picked up on that too, about more hate for those on these drugs than people who have had surgery. I think it’s because in their mind they feel like someone that had surgery had to still deal with the recovery from that so in a way they’re paying penance for it. Where as an injection is just way too easy for their liking. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂
@HeatherPaulineWeightloss
@HeatherPaulineWeightloss 2 ай бұрын
@@2.0mommy well I also remember seeing the comments about the easy way out for surgery too, it wasn’t, very similar to the drugs it’s just a TOOL you still have to change your food and your lifestyle/habits OR…you will stall and/or gain it back like me. But I didn’t believe that when I had the surgery…..I was listening to the people that said you can eat what you want! I had to find out on my own lol just like everyone else will have to also.

Do you think maybe the lady/person meant that you arent "going through it" as in she didn't consider you to be overweight? (Or not as overweight as she is) It may not have been a glp1 thing. That's the way i took what she said, just from how you conveyed it. Either way, she didn't have to be rude about it. And she may want to open her mind to new ideas. Especially since she said what she is doing is already not working(at least not as well as she would want it to.)
@2.0mommy

Interesting, I didn’t think of it that way. I took it to mean that I wasn’t going through it in the sense of not working for my weight loss because I was using a weight loss drug. But it’s possible that’s not how she meant it. I guess I could have interpreted it wrong, but it felt more of a dismissal because I was “cheating” or something. But who knows for sure. You were watching Dr. Mike? Wow... I watch Dr. Mike regularly -- and I endure his jokes, too. BTW, a lot of people are judgmental about GLP-1 / GIP drugs because they think obesity is the same as gluttony. And they think anyone who uses a drug to lose weight is just a glutton trying to use medicine to address the consequences of their inordinate love for food. But someone who has chronic obesity is not usually a glutton because most obese people starve themselves and work their hearts out trying to lose weight. But their biology is fracked up, so it's insanely difficult for them to lose weight.

Hi! Food noise was a new term to me too. It just means when you think about food constantly, even when you’re not hungry. So for me it looked liked waking up and immediately thinking about food. Going to the bathroom at night and thinking about food. Basically it was always there in the background of my mind.

I really want to talk to my doctor about this medicine but I think she’s going to laugh me out of the exam room. How many calories do you eat in a day on this medicine?
@2.0mommy
@2.0mommy 2 ай бұрын
I’m sorry that you think that’s how she’d react. Doctors can suck sometimes. My goal is 1600ish. I thought I was gonna go down in calories because I didn’t lose anything in 4 weeks but I decided against it and stuck with 1600 calories. I would definitely bring it up to her, though if you don’t have a lot to lose, she’ll probably not be too keen on it. Which is so dumb because why wait till a person has 50+ pounds to lose before prescribing this medication? We don’t wait till other things are out of control before prescribing any other medication, so why is this any different. I hope you have luck getting it!! 🙏🏽💕

I agree with everything you said except people who have 20 pounds to lose need access to this. Eli Lilly says it's not for those people with a few pounds to lose. I believe there are 2 different people taking this medication one like me who is on 10mg and doesn't have appetite suppression anymore or side effects but with good choices I'm losing steadily because I lack a hormone and this medication makes my body work correctly then there are people who lose bc of side effects such as appetite suppression but don't have a hormone deficiency. I am doing everything the same way I did previous with diet and exercise I always did portion control and exercised the same. I can lose because my body is functioning properly
@2.0mommy
@2.0mommy 2 ай бұрын
Hi!! I’m so glad you finally found something that works for you!! It’s such a sigh of relief isn’t it? The reason why I feel people should have access to it sooner rather than later is because that’s how we treat every other disease or condition. We don’t wait till someone’s glucose levels are dangerously high before prescribing metformin, for example. In the same way, if someone is lacking the hormone why make them wait till they’re 50lbs overweight? I just think it’s better to get ahead of it, since we know that by the time someone is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, they’ve already had many years of unstable blood sugars. But that’s just my opinion. ☺️Thanks for sharing yours! And again, congrats on your success!! 🔥🤗💕☺️

@2.0mommy I agree with you the United States is not generally good with preventative care. I just think there needs to be guidelines. Starting pre-diabetics or people with a slightly lower BMI and another comorbidity would be a good move. I just don't agree that everyone with 10 pounds to lose needs these medications. I definitely see your point and where you are going. I just think doctors still need to be selective when prescribing.

If a diabetic takes insulin they aren’t taking the easy way out. They are taking medication for a disease. That’s how I have started to view obesity. I have a medical condition that can be treated now with medication. I still “going through it,” like you are.

Yes exactly!! Which is why I feel strongly that people should have access to it sooner. Why wait till someone is obese? Why make them suffer? I’m a little heartbroken for you that you have been made to feel like you have to justify why you are taking a GLP-1. I don’t see it as cheating or taking the easy way out. Yes, it’s an aid or a tool but you still have to put in the work. This is coming from someone with a lot of weight to lose and not taking a GLP medication ( only because I can’t afford it ) . I heard a quote the other day about “we all are headed to the same destination but sometimes we take a different path” . It doesn’t mean one path is superior to the other. Just my two cents.
