This was not St. Louis's best moment. Let's put it that way. In the age the Blues thought they had a chance to make another deep playoff run, they instead receive another thing: Their new boogeyman.
Nazem Kadri now lives rentfree in the minds of the Blues fanbase and organization itself. This is a tribute to such inadvertent trolling.

Kadri honestly handled that really well, was super chill when talking about it and just continued to play his game. I can’t imagine what it must be like to receive death threats and all kinds of hate whe you’re just trying to play the sport you love

reminds me of Joel Ward in 2012. He scored the game 7 OT winner in Boston and Boston gave him hell. He said something like "im not surprised" and "ive heard it before". It's truly sad and a testament to the character of the player to remain professional about it.

Lets be honest, this (unfortunately) isn't the first time he has dealt with racist comments, it's just the first time it's come into the public eye. So, as sad as it is, he already knows how to handle it.

It doesn't matter how you feel about a player, at the end of their day, it's just a job. If you got threatened for going to work everyday imagine how you'd feel. Those fans went too far and despite hating Kadri on ice (even though I'm not a blues fan), I really hope he's okay off the ice

I'm a Red Wings fan. After seeing what happened during this part of the Road to the Western Conference Final. I think Nazem Kadri made me wish Colorado gets to the Stanley Cup Finals. Despite what the Blues and their 'fans' did. He lived rent free in their heads this entire series. Good for the Avalanche, good for Kadri. ...Hell frozen over a long time ago. There will always be 7th graders saying something dumb. Everyone knows if you bring up racism or death threats you get way more clicks and interaction. That’s exactly what the media and urinatingtree is doing right now. The best thing they could have done is ignore it. Now that everyone is talking about it, it will just feed those middle schoolers to continue doing it.

The photos of all the support from Avs fans before game 5 gives me chills. I was there and during a TV timeout, the crowd was chanting Kadri. They showed him on the jumbo tron and he was nodding and I think he was holding back tears.

Interesting and thanks for mentioning that. I don't recall that TNT (ESPN) broadcast any information about that happening, which is a bonehead move by those responsible for the broadcast. Any opportunity to show that racism is wrong is the way it should be. It's overly due to where people are just recognized as people and enough of this racism shit.

Blues fan here, although I was not happy about Binnington getting injured, that doesn't justify all the threats Kadri got whatsoever. Absolutely unacceptable. He dunked on our franchise and honestly, it's deserved.

At least given his reputation, it wouldn't surprise me if he did. I can get death threats, found it ridiculous with lemieux, Burtuzzi, and cooke. But at least those were intentional. Still doesn't excuse that kind of behavior though. At the end of the day, it's a game. Losses suck, but that kind of shit passes.

Yeah, but doesn’t excuse any fanbase for being racist towards a player they believed intentionally injured their player, when it clearly wasn’t intentional whatsoever. It shouldn’t be ignored, and thankfully some of the people that made those harsh comments have already had repercussions implemented on them. It’s just horrible and right now the blues are the most recent candidate for most shitty fanbase.

As a Blues fan, I gotta say I could see this coming the moment that hit happened. The fanbase acted like complete morons no doubt, and that's certainly been said, but the team themselves let their seething over Kadri take over. This is not the regular season. This is playoff hockey. The only thing you should be focused on or even considering during playoff hockey is scoring goals. if you focus on anything else, even for a moment, you will be buried. and buried we certainly were.

Been a St. Louis resident all my life. Obviously I'm gonna follow my home team, no questions. But the night Binnington was taken out, I was watching and immediately it seemed like nothing happened. An accident on the ice, no one's fault, not intentional; it sucked BAD but I wasn't mad at anyone. Seeing the responses later, hearing about the threats and blatant racism sent Kadri's way, a man btw I didn't even see do anything intentionally wrong, was so vile. I'm still a Blues fan, but when we were kicked out of the contention in game 6, I couldn't really care. The response from a MAJORITY of this fanbase was so disgusting, I have never before been so embarrassed to be a fan of a sports team in my life. GG Kadri, GG Avalanche, do better St. Louis please.

Die hard Avs fan here. When we picked up Kadri I was worried he would be a distraction. I was especially worried after the suspension he got in the playoffs a year ago. But this series showed me the strides he has taken to become more level headed. I hope he get the contract he deserves next season. Even if it’s not with the Avalanche. Racism has no place in this world.

They probably don't win without Binnington. They were not the same and the games were only close because Kuemper is just not good. The better team was the Avs after Binnington was gone and they won because of it.

Husso was spectacular and the only reason the Blues were in some periods; if you think your goalie was the only thing holding your team together, you have no business being a team in the playoffs. For some more perspective, I used to think Grubauer was the only person playing defense for the Avs. He signs with Seattle and looks absolutely dreadful, and we have been playing better than we did with him Plus, Binnington is a child- really needs to mature a little.

Huge Avs fan here and I was really nervous when we first traded for him because of his track record but he has proven to be one of the most reliable forwards on the entire team. The way that entire situation was handled was complete bullshit by the Blues players, coach, and fans

As a blues fan it was kind of rough when kadri absolutely took over game 4 but as a fan of good stories and against racism and death threats it was nice to see him succeed and take all the hate that was coming at him and have a lot of success in a big game. Best of luck the rest of the way Avalanche. At the end of the day you guys deserved to win the series without a doubt. Should be awesome to see Mackinnon go against McDavid.

Kadri is one of the players the league doesn't give the benefit of the doubt to. He has earned it with his track record. Last season, they threw the book at him. I can't remember the last time another player got suspended 8 games in the playoffs. Knowing that the league doesn't let him off when he's done wrong, how can anyone honestly believe that he deliberately ran Binnington without a call on the ice or supplemental discipline from the DoPS?

Being from Kansas City and being a blues fan I do not at all support what those Blues fans threatened to Kadri. Sure he did run into our starting goalie ON FUCKING ACCIDENT, you shouldn’t be taking it as far to be sending him goddamn death threats and racial slurs to not only him but also Kadri’s family members. We did it to ourselves, and when he did the pointing to his head celey after that goal that was basically the nail in the coffin for us. Sure I was mad about Kadri running into Binnington on accident by being pushed but that didn’t slow Kadri down, he used that as fuel for him to absolutely shit on us. I don’t like Kadri at all but after that you gotta give the man some respect

Me and my dad aren't huge fans of the Blues but we like them more than a lot of other teams. When they won, it was the first team I can remember we were both happy for. Then this all happened. Was happy to see the Avs advance. Kadri got class. Maybe he'll get a cup too.
