Hello and welcome On the Front, where we discuss all things WW2 and I bring you to these sites today.
In today’s episode we are going to discuss the Peenemünde Army Research centre. This facility produced the world’s most technologically advanced weapon systems, touted as wonder weapons by Adolf Hitler. What were these weapons? The V1 and V2 rockets.
The V-Series weapons were touted as Wonder Weapons by Hitler that would win the war for Germany but in truth these expensive weapons had very little impact. In fact, researchers now believe these and other “Wonder Weapons” may have even expedited Germany’s surrender as their development and production starved the German Wehrmacht of valuable and vital recourses.
Let me know your thoughts about Hitler’s V1 and V2 wonder weapons in the comments below.
Thank you for watching and I’ll see you next time On the Front.

Very interesting. A late uncle of mine was deployed there in WW2 working on the V2 program. Good to see the actual site. Thanks.

Thanks Imagineering, I'm glad you liked the video. There actually a number of V1 and V2 rocket sites across Europe this was only one. I will be sure to make further videos on those sites so be sure to look out for them.

I remember V1 & V2 rockets over London very clearly as a child, they are things that you never forget. However they never stopped us going out and living our lives as normal.

Thanks Derek, a big part of the 'Blitz Spirit' was not letting the German Luftwaffe disrupt normal life. It's great to hear from someone who experienced these terrible weapons first hand and hear they didn't stop you

Really enjoy your videos well researched and informative. Had the pleasure of meeting one of the pilots George Dunn DFC involved with the Peenemunde bombing raid a few years ago wonderful chap and definitely one of the 'Greatest Generation'. I would like to recommend La Coupole near St Omer in France as that was also a V weapons facility in the 2WW.

Glad you enjoyed the video Simon. I'm sure that would have been a very interesting conversation. Thanks for the recommendation, I will try to make a video about La Coupole in the future.

Really love it. Always wanted to visit there, thank you for making it possible. One small feedback, it would help if you speak a littler slower, feels like you are rushing a bit. Thanks!

If the V2 was the first ballistic missile , it could equally be said that the V1 was the first cruise missile

Love to see any more historical places of import; battlefields, famous hotels, site where Neville Chamberlain got his "little piece of paper" negotiated & signed, former concentration camps, the eagle's nest, etc. If you travel to France, Belgium or the Netherlands....would love to see those too. Especially Oradour-sur-Glane.
