This inspired me as well. I often find myself wondering where to focus my app development skills. I am going to investigate how I can utilize machine learning and tensor flow to make the world better. This can be how I give back.

It's also great to read the comments of many who were inspired by this video and who want to use technology in general (and ML in particular) to solve meaningful problems and to make our world better. OMG with all those infrastructure, transportation and hardware limitations and seeing how each day she is improving her dream with energy and faith. I promise myself that I will never again complain about what I don't have. And that part where you say that my mother inspired me.... "I must finish every project I started".

What I did not catch is - how does this app help? The farmer does not need the app to see the worm that eats his crop and the app does not predict where the worm is going to appear before we can see it. How does it help?

To learn python, learnpython,org is a good start. Supplement that with Corey Shafer's KZfaq channel. Corey's explanations are some of the best I've come across. To learn more about AI, DL, and ML, try the fast.ai channel and website. You'll work on solving practical problems and the course is taught by very smart data scientists. Plus, it's free. Some other great data science related KZfaq channels are Enthought, PyData, Jeff Heaton, Krish Naik.

Machine learning is really 5% of this whole operation. 95% is in developing the tools, the app, marketing, gathering the people, educating farmers, and producing videos such as this one. Inspiring, but it takes a lot different components working together to make something happen.
