Lots of useful info here -- I borrowed your idea of using straps to stretch the canvas top, and it worked!

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm about to have to replace the top on my car and was debating on which vendor to go with. Your comments helped me to make my decision. Keep up the good work.

Great job! I have an aqua 2001 MX5 LS, and the top has two rips in the same exact places. I was told that it's caused by the pressure of the frame there. One hole just got a lot bigger, so I covered both with 3M vinyl tape, and it seems to be holding up well, but I would love to just replace the whole thing. Lucky you that you know how to do it yourself. I dread finding out how much they're going to want to charge to do the job. The top itself is $389 (including heated glass window and attached rain rail), so it's going to be an expensive job in the end! By the way, I LOVE your gorgeous dog!!

What year is your Miata? I also got a top from the same dealer for my 1999. From start to finish how long did it take to complete the job? Great looking top you have.

Mine is a 1999 NB as well. Took me about 1.5 days but I also took my sweet time. Probably could finished it in a day if you are in a hurry.

Juat a question. I am currently trying to replace my soft top step by step as you do in the video, and I am not able to see anything that resembles the "fasteners" that are mentioned in 12:40. Idk if my car is a bit different than yours. I have a 2000 Miata.

hm... i don't really remember since this video is about 3 years old. I think there's plastic clip or a 10mm nut in there that the camera couldn't get to. You might need to feel around for it.

@@Popking35 Can you remove the carpet? That's all it matters. If you can't just search for any connector that is holding the carpet in place.

@@bigbigdog ok so the carpet isn't the problem, but I have now finally found that fastener you were mentioning. It's just a really tight area to reach into.
