Two months before this classic, Pistons destroyed the Lakers in Silverdome ( • Isiah Thomas Greatest ... ), and next time two NBA powerhouses met in the Forum, it was time for revenge.
Lakers won the game pretty easly and got their revenge, but two great point-guard stars stole the show.
Magic Johnson: 25 points, 19 assists, 9/13 FG.
Isiah Thomas: 30 points, 15 assists, 14/26 FG.
Lakers won this one 148:130 in a high-scoring affair.

Pay attention to the fact that 6-1 Isiah Thomas was POSTING UP a 6-4 guard IN THE PAINT and shooting turnaround jumpers in his face while other 6-9 defenders gave him no defensive help . Did I mention he was 6-1?

The Detroit Public School talent in this game Terry Tyler-Northwestern Earl Cureton-Finney Dan Roundfield (RIP)-Chadsey. Magic Johnson's wife, is also a graduate of Chadsey High Other local talent in this game is John Long of Romulus and Magic Johnson of Lansing Everett. Mike McGee played at Michigan.

Damn it’s so weird watching a 6’9 guy playing point guard. I’m so used to the post-magic era of the NBA that I can’t imagine anyone taller than 6’4 playing PG. Thomas got a lot past him which I can see why he’s such a respected PG in history. I never realized how much of a beast Kurt Rambis was too. Good days to watch the NBA wow.

How did magic Johnson become so good and able to score alot? Cause you can obviously tell magic johnson wasn’t very athletic, I mean looked at the way he handled the ball and moved his body , he was ackward etc.. 🤨
